I have not published a column about "Case of Seito Sakakibara" yet. I went to Kobe and heard some students' opinion instead. The title of this column is also a title of a chapter of "Rurouni Kenshin."
The most popular heroine in Japan was Sailor Moon in the Hanshin Earthquake in 1995. Not a few little girls that are admirers of Ms Usagi Tsukino died then. Many little girls lost their parents at that time. They thought that Sailor Soldiers had not saved them in the Hanshin Earthquake. Boys and girls in Kobe recognized that most of heroes and heroines were unreal. Then boys and girls said to TV and cartoons, "Why did you save me at that time?" They hided every kind of emotion except smiling.
Soon later they also lost Shoukou Asahara. Mr. Nobuhiro Watsuki who was a cartoonist and who drew Rurouni Kenshin wrote that the relation between Makoto Shishio and Soujirou Seta was equal to that between the cruel cult founder and devotees.
The groundless children in Kobe had to solve the question how they should live for themselves.
A man that believes that the answer is to cut off the head with the sword appears at last. His name is Seito Sakakibara.
Makoto Shishio will say, "Shosen Konoyo wa Jakuniku Kyoushoku. Tsuyo kereba Iki, Yowa kereba Shinu. (This world is under the law of the jungle in the end. The strong will survive, the weak will be killed.)" In fact, a lot of women, children, and the aged died in the Hanshin Earthquake.
Seito Sakakibara may be called Soujirou Seta in Heisei.
Thus we can understand the true character of Seito Sakakibara. Because fighters for justice do not exist in this world, to survive is to keep the good relation between a community and a koban police.
Thereafter Soujirou Seta came upon Kenshin's conviction not to kill others, and his mind collapsed.
He was defeated in the end and began to roam about the northern Japan to atone his sin.
Is there the energy to regenerate Seito Sakakibara in the authorities at present? Or we need him.....
