TV animation "Hana Yori Dango" (English word: Boy is better than the song of the birds) ended.
Comic-type "Hana Yori Dango" drawn by Ms Yoko Kamio is appearing serially in the Margaret, a comic magazine for little girls published by Shueisha at present. The comic started in 1992.
An outline of TV series
The normal senior high school student Tsukushi Makino is the heroine. She goes to Eitoku Gakuen school of which students are children of the rich because her mother makes a show. The school is led by the four boys who are much richer than so-called rich men. They are called F4. F4 consists of Tsukasa Doumyouji, Rui Hanazawa, Mimasaka and Nishikado.
Tsukushi was bullied by all students because she offended Tsukasa. But she resisted and won several to her side. Thereafter the tall stout shilly-shally man, Tsukasa gave his heart to Tsukushi. His elder sister Tsubaki began to take Tsukushi's side because she was worried by her marriage of convenience. On the other hand, Tsukushi's affection was drawn toward Rui Hanazawa who could not forget his former lover Shizuka. Ms Kaede Doumyouji, Tsukasa's mother who manages Maple Hotel Chain spread all over the world was deeply concerned about the condition. Kaede tried to marry Tsukasa with Ms Shigeru Oukawahara who is a daughter of a plutocrat in order to make Tsukasa part from Tsukushi.
Shigeru is very frank, fearless and a girl of violent temper. Tsukushi and she are exactly alike. They became great friends. Shigeru loved Tsukasa without either loss or profit but was rebuffed by Tsukasa because Tsukasa loved Tsukushi. However Tsukushi was prevented from meeting Tsukasa by Kaede. At last Tsukushi hit Kaede and parted from Tsukasa.
The last story was broadcast in 08/31/97 in Japan. Three months later from the parting. All students of Eitoku Gakuen school went to a harbor in order to see Tsukasa and Shigeru off for their honeymoon. A counterfeit letter from Tsukasa says, "The marriage is a got-up affair." Tsukushi got angry. She performed a dangerous stunt. As soon as Tsukushi jumped into the passenger liner with one rope, she dropkicked at Tsukasa's face. The dropkick was not the first time. (There was a foreshadow. Tsukushi's naked body was drawn as a sinewy girl at a bathing scene.
Shigeru appeared there and told the two that the marriage was a got-up affair by her and her friends. She said, "I was rebuffed by Tsukasa. So I wish Tsukushi is married with Tsukasa." She jumped overboard.
This made Kaede permit intercourse of the two. She said to the captain, "I hope you will kindly look after my son and its companion for life."
It is said that producers appointed fresh actors to extras in the animation to express the freshness of senior high school students. Ms Maki Mochida who played the role of the heroine Tsukushi Makino was an idol star formerly. She came back to TV commercial films and TV dramas thereafter. Mr. Naoki Miyashita who played the role of Tsukasa Doumyouji, the partner of Tsukushi is a young actor rising in popularity. Mr. Kouji Yamamoto who played the role of Rui Hanazawa is a young popular actor. These are not voice actors. (Moreover Ms Yoshiko Shimizu who played the role of Ms Yuriko Asai that bullied Tsukushi is a comic dialogist.)
Hana Yori Dango is famous for the movie in which Yuki Uchida, an idol star in Japan, played the role of Tsukushi formerly. Thereafter the serials are still continued. I think the huge original made a beautiful finish in the TV series.
I unconsciously cried because of Kaede's last word.
