Kyouichi is incensed that his servant should wish Utena luck. Anshi
immediately humbles herself and apologizes, which angers Utena.
Anshi walks up to Utena and pins a rose to her breast. "If the petals of this rose are scattered, you are defeated."
"Uh... eh?" Utena's attention is suddenly elsewhere as she smells the fragrant rose. "That time," she muses, "that man... the scent of that rose..."
Anshi looks at Utena with big eyes. "Good luck," she says.
Suddenly Kyouichi crosses to Anshi and slaps her violently. Utena puts her arms around the stricken girl to protect her, glaring at Kyouichi.

"Until now, he is the victor of all duels," Anshi explains. "And so my entire being exists only for him."
"What?!?" Utena demands. "He's not your sweetheart?" Anshi bows her head.
Kyouichi calmly looks at Utena and tells her that the match will begin.
