Drunken Master; 1978 HK
Jackie Chan plays Wong Fei-hung, (character from old Cantonese films and recently in Tsui Hark's Once Upon a Time in China -serie)
who after having disgraced the family name two times in one morning, been send by his father
to Fei Hung´s uncle, Sam Seed to whip him into shape. Sam has namely a reputation of crippling his students. After Fei Hung
have tried to escape several times he becomes Sam´s martial arts prisoner and the torture training begins. In a last
desperate attempt Fei Hung finally manage to escape Sam. He then meets a hired killer (Hwang Jang lee) who beats him unconscious and
humiliates him. He then return to Sam to learn the drunken style.
This is the second collabration between director Yuen Woo Ping and Jackie Chan was another huge box-office hit,
it made Jackie Chan really famous.
It is a Kung Fu comedy which was a very big hit all over Asia. It
contains great fighting scenes and even beat Snake in the Eagle´s Shadow with a HK$8,000,000 in its first run.
