Magnificent Bodyguards; 1978 HK

Jackie A traditional martial arts film in the spirit of Bruce Lee. After funny Half a Loaf Jackie Chan was ordered to make another very serious kun fu piece, a historical romance. Director Lo Wei hated Half a Loaf.. so he wanted to make traditional kung fu film. And like many times when he tried to make Jackie Chan a new Bruce Lee, he failed miserably. Magnificent Bodyguard was the first Hong Kong's 3D movie, trying to make kicks and punches towards the camera. But it did not help. As Jackie says it tried to show the shock value and speed of kung fu only, trying to get the value of new technique.

Jackie Chan is a bodyguard who helps a woman by escorting his sick brother. He must be taken to doctor who can save his life. On their way they must pass Stormy Hills, a bad area filled with bandits who want to stop them.

Score on some versions uses theme music from Star Wars.
