Snake in the Eagle's Shadow; 1978 HK

With Drunken Master, Snake In The Eagle's Shadow launched Jackie Chan's meteoric career, at last providing the redoubtable star with a leading role. Crammed with the sort of intense, axplosive kung fu action not seen since the golden days of Bruce Lee, it tells the story of Chien Fu. Bullied, mistreated, abused, he learns the deadly Snake Fist discpline from the last living master. This alone however , is not enough to combat the rival Eagle Claw clan, and Chien must incorporate his own vicious Cat's Paw technique before confronting the dread Eagle Claw master in a battle to the death.

Snake in the Eagles Shadow and Drunken Master are a pair, in both of them Jackie is a young man willing to try everything. His character is at the same time a human rocket and a nice boy from the next door. And Yuan Xiaotian, old and experienced Kung Fu actor, is his master in both movies. In Snake in Eagles Shadow Jackie toggles between comedy and tragedy. Jackie is working in a Kung Fu school, not parctising Kung Fu but doing things no-one else wants to do: cleaning etc.. And Kung Fu students also beat him up while practicing fighting skills. When Yuan Xiaotian comes he teaches Jackie fight the Snake Fist style. Unfortenately a master of Eagle Claw Clan, who wants to destroy Snake Fist style for once and all, sees Jackie fighting. But before the final duel to the death enjoy when Jackie (Jianfu) practices Kungfu and developes his new style. Great fun!
