EAST ASIAN GAMES- Wushu emerges as Asian...
Wushu is the Mandarin term for "martial arts". Wushu is often
characterized into three categories. Shadow Boxing, Weapons play, and combat exercises.
Although often putdone by other martial artists as "Dancing", Wushu is a just as useful
as other system. Currently popular is "Sanshou", full contact sparring. This literally
means "free sparring" and involves kicking, punching, and throws. For internationl competition,
there are currently 10 compulsory routines. Three empty hand routines, 4 short weapon and 3 long weapon.
Soon, the new compulsory forms will be implemented into international competition.
The same routines is done by every country in international competitions such as Baltimore(1995) and
Rome(1997). Otherwise, China would be unbeatable(Well they still are...).
