INTRODUCTION / NEWS: SITE MAP

1999 seemed to have been slightly unusual for Mr. Goldsmith. All three of his scores for 1999 are for big-budget special effects/action films: The Mummy, The Haunting, and The Thirteenth Warrior. I saw all three, and I must say The Thirteenth Warrior was probably his best score of the year. The Mummy comes is a relatively close second, with The Haunting score being so low just because the movie itself was bad.

None of us were suprised Mr. Goldsmith was nominated for an Academy Award in 1998 - this time for Mulan. I was absolutely shocked when he did not win. I am disappointed with the Academy more and more every year (and not just for their choices in the score catagory). Maybe next year they will actually do things right, though I doubt it.

GNP Crescendo Records is proud to announce the release of the long awaited Star Trek "Insurrection" soundtrack. This musical masterpiece was composed and conducted by multi-award winner Jerry Goldsmith. Executive Producer: Neil Norman. The price is $12.98, shipping and handling comes to $3.00 in the US, with slightly different rates for international orders. Click here to place your order.

Planet of the Apes score reviewed, with detailed album information. This version of the score was released by Varèse Sarabande Records. This CD was priced at $32.99 at Blockbuster Music, so I passed it up. That very day, I found it for $16.99 at a Borders Bookstore. So make sure, if you get it, to find a good price on it!

Varèse Sarabande Records has finally released the score for Small Soldiers. They released the song-only album three weeks before the score, claiming that they were afraid that people would be confused between the two albums. So when you go to get this one, make sure you get the score! I found it for $17.99 at Blockbuster Music, which is what a typical new movie score costs at that store. Varèse Sarabande also re-released Jerry's 1966 score for The Sand Pebbles in November 1997. Again, I found a CD copy at Blockbuster Music for $17.99. Both reviews are now up

I have received many requests about a song titled "No One Like You" on Sarah Brightman's most recent CD, Time to Say Goodbye. The music was composed by none-other-than Jerry Goldsmith himself, and the lyrics are by David Zippel. I have exhausted virtually every resource I have in finding out whether this song is originally from a movie, or if Mr. Goldsmith composed this song specifically for Sarah Brightman - all to no avail. I'm sorry, but I have given up on this one. The best I can offer is what a fan sent me for the Rumors & Fanmail page. While it is unconfirmed, it will have to do. Thank you all for your e-mails!

As any fan could have predicted, Jerry Goldsmith was nominated for an Academy Award for L.A. Confidential (1997 - Best Music, Original Dramatic Score). James Horner won the award, however. How can someone who isn't original get Best Original Score (listen to his score for 'Braveheart' and you will see why 'Titanic' was not original)? However, Mr. Goldsmith was chosen to compose the first-ever fanfare for the Oscars, so that is still quite an honor. Click here to listen to Jerry's acceptance speech for 'The Omen' from 1977.

STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK INFORMATION, BY POPULAR DEMAND! UPDATED 12-3-98!

"Frontiers", by Jerry Goldsmith, his first commercially available compilation CD! Click here for information and review.

Mr. Goldsmith won the Fredrick Lowe Achievement Award for Film Music during the Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 10th, 1998. This only proves again what all us fans have known for years, that Jerry Goldsmith is the best!

In my personal opinion, Jerry Goldsmith is the best composer in the entire world. I was extremely grateful that he was chosen to compose the score for 'Star Trek: Insurrection'. The music for 'Star Trek: First Contact' was so moving that a tear actually came to my eye when I first heard it, which is something that has never happened during a movie before. Once I heard the first notes of the theme in the theater, I knew I had to make a tribute of some kind to this musical genius.

So here's to Mr. Goldsmith, may he live long, and prosper.
