- Playing Guitar. I've got a red Gibson ES 345 copy by Yamaha, a small Fender Champ and a screamy old tube amp called Check Mate. And sometimes I make a lot of noise.
- Listening Music. I'm a great CD and LP collector. - Sailing. I go sailing in the Tyrrhenian Sea on a boat called "Ghostbusters 2". This year we have won the Livorno-Rio Marina (Elba)-Livorno Yacht Race and had some second positions in other regattas.

- History. I like history books and historical Computer games. I liked Pirates, Civilization, Waterloo and 1602. My favourite authors are Herodotus, Thukydides, Polybios, Suetonius, Tacitus, Plutarch, Ibn Battuta, Leopold von Ranke, Will & Ariel Durand, Indro Montanelli, Barbara Tuchmann and Golo Mann. My favourite fiction authors are Apulejus, Grimmelshausen, Swift, Casanova, Scott, Balzac, Dumas, Poe, Twain, Stevenson, Goethe, Schiller, Büchner, Balzac, A.Dumas, Kästner, Brecht, T. Mann, Böll, Dürrenmatt, Eco, T. Wilder, C.S.Forester, C.Bukowski, S.Benni and many more.
- Science Fiction. I like S.F. and Fantasy books and films. My favourite authors are H.G. Wells, Edgar Rice Burroughs, J.R.R. Tolkien, Arthur C. Clarke, Stanislaw Lem, Kurt Vonnegut and Marion Zimmer Bradley . My favourite movies are The Time Machine, Barbarella, Zardoz, Star Wars, Blade Runner and The Fifth Element. And I like Raumpatrouille Orion and Star Trek, too.
- Cinema. Some of my favourite movies are The Wind and the Lion, Blues Brothers, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Rude Boy, Yellow Submarine, Dr. Strangelove, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, A Perfect World, Dances with Wolves, Braveheart, Schtonk !, Heimat, Cleopatra, Ben Hur, Quo Vadis, The Great Dictator, To Be Or Not To Be and many more.
- Games. I like playing Chess, Nine Men's Morris (Mühle), Poker, Black Jack, German Skat, Monopoly, Scotland Yard, Trivial Pursuit and strategy games like Risiko and Diplomacy. Together with my friend Karl-Wilhelm Welberts I have developed some new strategy games (Concert of Powers 1914).
- Sports. I sometimes play Football (Soccer for Yanks !), Volleyball, Tennis and Ping Pong and I like Jogging and Swimming. My favourite football team in the German Bundesliga is Borussia Mönchengladbach. |
