Amanda Thomas![]() ![]() Amanda's Thoughts on Gentle MotheringGentle mothering and attachment style parenting are synonymous in our household. We choose to be the primary and exclusive care-givers for our child, breastfeeding with child-led weaning, a family bed, baby-wearing, and a nurturing environment that is conducive to our baby's growth in the Lord. Gentle mothering instills an undeniable and profound security within a child that his parents love and approve of him, and that he is a valuable part of the Lord's Plan. There has been a consistent degredation in American society, and as the family unit continues to deteriorate, it becomes all the more important that our generation implement wholesome parenting techniques to amend this frightening trend. The next generation begins today, in individual households, between family members. Most often it is the mother who sets the tone for the household. Setting the example of Christianity, patience, consistency, continuous effort and nurturing without resentment, obedience, and love is the most valuable gift a woman can give her family. In my 7th month of pregnancy with Baby Jonah, I had an encounter with the Lord while studying Proverbs 31: 11-31. My eyes were opened to the unique and blessed role I was required by God to fulfill. It was then that I became certain about the steps I needed to take. I resigned from my "career," and started a home-based business so that I would be the primary care-giver for my son. Shortly after Jonah was born, I attended a seminar held for a Mothers of Pre-Schoolers group. The meeting topic, coincidentally, was the same text from Proverbs. Throughout the meeting, I felt the reinforcing presence of the Lord. Every minute of the meeting seemed to be directed toward an internal reassurance of the path I was being led to follow.
Amanda's TestimonyI have accepted the Lord as my personal Savior, and believe that he has perished for my sins. There have been many wonderous events in my life that serve as testimony and validation for the Lord's continuing presence. I am happy to serve God in all that I do, and wish to bring others to know Him. Being saved is no mystery. Salvation is a gift from God, and not one person deserves it. But, it is all ours for the asking, through Christ. |
