Nancy's Testimony and Thoughts on Gentle Mothering

I was raised in a Christian family. We attended church most every Sunday at a Baptist church in Southern California. When I was about 13 years old, my family decided to change churches, and we started attending a non-denominational church called Calvary Community. Oh, what a joy that was!!! I was technically 9 years old when I was saved, but I was a teen when it all meant so much more to me. My testimony is not one of those romantic, tear jerking stories, rather one of just simple love for the Lord. I have fallen so many times, like we all do, but my love for Jesus is stronger then ever.

I am married to a most wonderful Christian man who dearly and deeply loves the Lord. We are committed to bringing up our children the way He would want us to. God has blessed us with our children, and we view our job as parents as that of guiding them and training them to the best of our ability. That is why attachment parenting is so dear to my heart. I feel that to have the honor of being these kids' mom is too great a gift for me to be anything but attached. Does that make any sence? :-)

I am not perfect by ANY means, and I fall short on a daily basis. But I love my children, I respect them, and I do my best to always make myself availble to them in all ways. I strongly believe that we can make a difference in this world while we are here, by loving and guiding our children in this way. To respond to my crying baby, the minute he needs me, to have the babies in my bed and feel their breath and warm skin.....what could be better.....?

Attachment parenting goes far beyond toddler-hood. I have a 12 and 10 year old as well. They are attached to me and their dad, just as when they were babies. They are good children with a strong faith in the Lord.
