THE GARAGE

Spent some time in the garage area

By far my best pictures from my trip to the garage. I'll pontificate more below on my reaction to being down in that area. Awesome photos of the DuPont Chevy and the Dale Earnhardt Jr. Bud Chevy, his first Winston Cup points race!!! The cars are very close together so they were taken from the "end" of the garage.

The evening before I won passes to the garage area!!! Actually it was a "tour" that resulted in passes. Don't ask. What is very apparent to me is THESE GUYS ARE WORKING!!!!!! I can not believe the idiots who have been given access to the area. They think nothing of getting in the way of a crew pushing a car or a "war wagon" through the garage area. I want to remind everyone THESE GUYS ARE WORKING!!!!!! It was crowded and the drivers looked like trapped rats in a cage. At one point I saw Mark Martin sprinting through the garage area to his hauler. Believe it or not fans ran after him!!! I am very disallusioned by this visit. The people who have been granted access to my mecca really have no idea what is going on. It is more important to these folks to get autographs than to allow Ray and Jeff to discuss set up on the car. While it was a great experience I am not sure I would want to do it again.

The Cartoon Network crew's mascot watching over all the fan's. I would have taken Jerry Nadeau's picture but he started signing autograph's and I got one for my 3 year old. Thanks Jerry!!!!

I did take a few pictures of the cars I could really identify easily. Here is the M&M's car and Dale Earnhardt Jr's team preparing him for his first Winston Cup points race.

While in the garage area the Busch teams were lining up the cars after they passed tech inspections. I tiik the picture of Jeff Burton's helmet to prove to my 5 year old son that these were not "show" cars.

One thing that the Busch officials did was make many requests for the "guests" in the garage area to stay away from the cars as they had passed tech and they were to stay a minimum of 3 feet from the cars. As you can the in this picture this guy doesn't understand English!!!!

Jeff Gordon ran this Star Wars special paint job for the Busch race. This was on the way to the fuel pumps for gas.

Here are some various cars as they're heading to or leaving tech inspection. Took the picture of the 66 Phillipp's car as my wife's company is a distributor of their fuel (hey...maybe she can get me down here!!!)
