This view is looking south from Avalanche Peak (1833m) above the village of Arthur's Pass in the South Island of New Zealand. The ridge on the right extends to Lyell Peak (1828m) and then via an unnamed top to Mt. Bealey (1836m) in the center of the photo. Mt. Bealey can be climbed from the village and may be accessible along the ridge from Avalanche Peak. The mountains on the horizon are the Black Range with many summits over 2000 metres high.
