Who Am I ?

This is just a bit about me.
First of all, my name - it's obviously NOT TinyTan, this is just my nickname that I use in the chat rooms. I won't go into why I have this name. My real name is Tania. I'm 29 years old and have recently bought my first home. Home is Brisbane in Australia. I have one brother, Mark. I have a cat called RAZZ and she gives my parents dog, Misty a hard time.

I went to university and studied Environmental Engineering. Now, I already know the next question - What is Environmental Engineering ? Environmental Engineering is basically Waste Management - I studied water and wastewater management, pollution control, solid waste and just about anything that involves the Environment. It's my job to fix it up ! But alas, I've had trouble finding a job in this field. It's not that there are no jobs out there for my type of engineer, it's just that they always want people with heaps of experience.

December 1998: I've now just completed a course at college in Information Technology, which is a change from Engineering. I really enjoyed the course and hope to put my new found knowledge to use in a full-time position. I only finished my course just before Christmas ('98) and have already had one interview. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and my hopes raised.

March 1999: It's now March and I've been working full-time for 2 months. WOW! It's great to have money!! *LOL* It's weird 'cause it's not my ideal job, but I'm just glad to be doing something to earn some money and afford to do things again. Eventually, I hope to move on and get a position in Information Technology. Until that time I'm satisfied with what I am doing now.

January 2000: Well, it's been a while since I've added a bit to this page. I started a new job in June which I am enjoying so far - it's still not in Information Technology like I hoped, but I do get to put some of my knowledge to use. I am an Administration Officer and Bookkeeper for a Group Training Scheme. It's my job to pay all our apprentices and keep the bookkeeping in order as well as other general administration duties.

March 2003: OK, so it's been a long time since I updated this page... I'm still in the same Job - mainly concentrating on the Bookkeeping side of things these days though. In the past year, I have bought my own home and not much else - that seems to keep me busy.

January 2004: Same old, same old. All work and no play makes Tania a dull girl! In the last year, I have continued on with the same job, went to Vanuatu with my friends in April and started my own Creative Memories business. To find out more about Creative Memories, visit their web site

I enjoy reading, movies, Orienteering (when I have the energy and time), Travelling, camping and anything to do with the outdoors in general. I also like taking photographs, and many of the pictures that you see in these pages have been taken by me !

I'm a real movie fanatic. I just love to go to the cinema and see a good movie - it's the whole atmosphere that gets me - it's so much better than the small screen. Some memorable movies that I have seen are Titanic (great on the big screen), The Star Wars Tilogies (classics, and my favourite) and --- well there's just too many to mention. I also have enjoyed the Lord of the Rings series.

OK, other than movies I like the outdoors - camping, orienteering (see my pages on these topics), gardening and walking the dogs.

One of my dreams is to travel around Australia and the rest of the world. I have been to many places in Australia so far, but have a long way to go. I 've been overseas a couple of times now - The United States in 1994/5, New Zealand in 2001 and I am going to Vanuatu this April/May. I also plan on making a return visit to the States in 2005.

I'd eventually like to travel and see where my ancestors came from. If you visit my pages on family history, you may notice I have quite a few nationalities in my family - Dutch, Scotish, German, English and Irish. Other than having relatives in these places, I also have relatives in the US too ! All the reasons I have to travel other than for the pure enjoyment of it !
