Camping
Camping is one of my favourite activities to "get away from it all". As a child, our family would often go camping. Every year at Easter we would pack up our camping gear and travel to whereever the Easter orienteering carnival was held. We would camp with many other orienteers in a school grounds or any other area where everybody gathered.
It was not only at Easter that we went camping. I suppose I became a real camping enthusiast was while I was a Girl Guide. Our unit would go on camp at least twice a year and we always had a great time. I even attended an international camp. We also have been camping during other school holidays and long weekends. My father is interested in fossicking and I also enjoy the thrill of finding a pretty (and sometimes valuable) stone. We have camped in the central Queensland gem fields at the Willows, gold country near Nanango, and in the Fossicker's Way area in Northern New South Wales - all in aid of finding those illusive rocks !
One of my favourite areas to camp is around the Scenic Rim area, especially around Mt Barney at Flanagans Reserve or Yellow Pinch. Another great area to camp, which we have been to recently is a private camp ground near Lake Moogerah. The main thing that all these area have in common is great places to swim !.
