Hey, love your site, but I was wondering, can I delete my movie list??? I made it awhile ago and half of the movies listed, I don't even like. I don't even remember why I typed it up. If I could delete that and put a new one, it would be great. Thanks.

Stefanie....unfortantly we would like to keep the list updates to a absolute minimum (once every several years?) (AC 7/18/02)

I dont really have a list, just a couple of comments. You guys put Citizen Kane in te 30's on your lists. If you accutually took the time to sit down and reflect on the the art that is presented to you, you would relize that movie deserve's a top 5 position not a top 30. I am not trying to bag your site or anything but keep in mind the technology sources they had in 19941. One more thing As I looked about your site I didnt see Chinatown, or Annie Hall. I might have just overlooked them but those are also two well deserved masterpieces. Consider the obvious guys. Thanks, MIchael Foster p.s. I llike your site alot, Although it does have some flaws.

Hey Michael...thanks for the feedback. You raise an interesting point when you say "keep in mind the technology sources they had in 1941". I don't care what technology they had....how does the movie hold up when you watch it NOW? If you think in those terms, create a list of the top movies of 1941. Chinatown (#8) and Annie Hall (#43) are both on Mark's top 100 list. (AC 7/18/02)

On 05/5/02 Dwight (2OKIES@LVCM.COM) submitted the following:

Gentlemen,

I hope not to bore you, but I feel compelled to submit the following, for reasons that I hope will become apparant.

A number of years ago I took my wife on a belated honeymoon to the Monterey Peninsula and surrounding areas. One particular evening we went to dinner at a lovely place about nine miles south of Carmel known as "Rocky Point". While waiting to be seated, we sat on a bench outside watching the sun set into the Pacific blue waters. Suddenly, my wife, having never been to the area before, arose, walked out to the tip of a jagged point roughly a quarter of a mile away and sat down. I watched her for what seemed an eternity. One of the resturaunt employees graciously came out and informed me that our table was ready. I again glanced out at my wife and told the young lady that ".....it wouldn't be appropriate right now".

Seldom do we have the opportunity to truly soak in the beauty of this magnificent planet that we inhabit, even less often are we afforded the chance to observe someone else doing so. Those were, I believe, the most personal, private, and awe inspiring moments of my wife's life.

My favorite movie? "A River Runs Through It".

Dwight....this may be my favorite post to date. Thanks. (AC 6/2/02)

To Shelly: I've read your description about the movie and the only one which comes to my mind is Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock. It's not black and white though. In this movie, the hero (James Stewart) fells in love with Kim Novac, whom he thinks is the wife of a friend. She commits a fake suicide but then meets him again with her real personality, being brunette this time and not so classy. I don't want to reveal the end, in case people haven't seen it and want to. Hey there - great site! Great picks - I have a few different ones, but from what you've listed, I'll be on a mission to see the ones on your list that I haven't seen. Looks like you have pretty good taste. I was wondering if you could help me out. I actually got to your site doing a long and seemingly futile search for the movie Awakenings and some songs on the soundtrack. I found that the two songs you have don't download properly. Could you point me to a place where I could get free MP3's of the songs? Or would you even consider sending them directly to me? The song I'm specifically looking for is the one that's played on piano when Leonard is saying goodbye to that girl in the cafeteria and they get up and dance and he stops shaking... the coolest scene in the movie, in my opinion. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance, Matthew Choi Queen's University Medical Student

was wondering what you guys think of david fincher

I think David Fincher is a risk-taking director, yet he has developed a signature look to his movies (rainy, dark, disturbing) and I eagerly await each film he does...I can't say that about too many directors now a day. I wish he could make his entire movies as visually stunning as he does his opening credits. (AC 5/3/02)

dear aaron, i just watched 'jacob's ladder' and felt that the core of the movie was when the chiropracter, louie, told jacob about meister eckhart. so i looked on google to see where else on the net that might be linked to the movie, and i found your site. i have a hunch that a lot of people didn't 'get it' or at least, get THAT and i'm glad you did. i think jacob could have used a copy of 'the tibetan book of living and dying' or some equivalent. for me,this movie was sort of that equivalent, more simply stated. i love the whole idea of your site as well,as i've been looking for good movie recommendations. 'jacob's ladder' was recommended by someone at nonduality.com

Diane...thank you for the compliments, I'll have to check out nonduality.com (AC 5/3/02)

I don't know if you can answer this question or not, but you seem to have an understanding of great movies, so I can only hope. I'm looking for a movie where a man falls in love with two women. One is "high society" one is down to earth. He believes that he has lost one, but winds up finding the same girl acting differently. This movie is old and is in black and white. If you could responsed telling me you could, couldn't, wouldn't find the move. It would be great. Thank you. Shelly.

Re: The Indian Runner Thank goodness someone else has seen this movie and is of the same opinion as I: Viggo Mortensen is incredible in his portrayal of the conflicted, brutal younger brother. After seeing LOTR, I was intrigued by the actor and remembered seeing him in A Walk on the Moon and a Perfect Murder, both films featuring subtle, understated performances by Mortensen. A search on the net was rewarded with a thorough filmography and I've been working my way thru his films. Couldn't believe my luck when I found the one VHS copy of The Indian Runner available in Toronto. Had to watch it twice - was his performance astounding or what?! In his directorial debut, Penn shows great maturity and patience with his characters' development and film pacing. Great foreshadowing of his latest "gift" to us - The Pledge.
