Choosing the right food for you hamster to eat is very important because it will give your pet energy as well as keep it happy. You should test different foods with your hamster to see what it enjoys eating.
It's important to always feed your pet at least some sort of hamster mix. These are sold in all pet stores and usually consist of bird seeds, sunflower seeds, corn, small nuts, and more. You can also buy hamster pellets that are also good for your hamster. These foods are good because they are dry and won't perish quickly.
Along with dry foods, you should also feed your hamster a good assortment of fresh foods. Try giving your hamster a little of something different everyday so you can get a sense of what it likes. Fresh foods that are good for your hamster include:
Alfafa
Apple
Asparagus
Avocado

Raw Kidney Beans
Raw Potato
Raw Rhubarb
Rhubarb leaves
Tomato leaves
Feed your hamster once a day. If there is fresh food left over from the past day, remove it and give it some new food. The dry food can usually last a while. Always provide fresh water and enough food. If your hamster doesn't eat that much, feed it less the next day. When you're on vacation, remember to leave enough food with the pet-sitter and instruct them on what your pet likes to eat. If it's a very short vacation, remember to leave enough food and fresh water!
