Tales at Teatime

Black Swan folk Club - Peaseholme Green, York.
Roland of the Black Swan folk Club in York has asked me to put on an hours
show at the forthcoming Folk Weekend on Saturday and Sunday 30th and 31st
May. So come along to Tales at Teatime with me at 5pm till 6pm. The whole
weekend is free admission and there is a choice of events throughout the
weekend.

Storytelling in Parks
From dragons to ghosts, from tall tales to unicorns, from bluebell pixies
to magical stones, I draw on all my repertoire plus many tales created from
local folk-lore and history especially for each park. Stephen the Senior
Ranger for City of York's Parks & Open Spaces has set me on for all
the parks fetes throughout the summer and you are welcome to join me what
ever your age. Of course, as well as coming along and choosing a story from
my menu, you may well want me to come along to a park near you......

The Jorvik Viking Festival 2009:-
Rune Readings
In the guise of Adrinskald Samsson, storyteller Adrian Spendlow is providing
rune readings and world tree visions with a storytelling flavour on Thursday
19th February in the Festival Marquee. Come along between 10.30 and 4 to
St Sampson's Square and look out for him within the busy crafts event.

Andvari's Gold - The
Tales That Tolkien Took. 19:30 Thursday 19th February
Dean Court Hotel, £15 (includes main course supper platter: please
request vegetarian option when booking).
Join us in the Court Café for a riveting retelling of this Viking
myth with respected storyteller Adrian Spendlow. Adrian brings to life this
fascinating tale of cursed rings, dragons' hoards, broken hearts and the
determination of the corrupted creature Andvari.

The Spendlow's York
Talk - Audio Histories 2 pm - Friday 20th February
York City Library, the Marriot Room, £2 (refundable on Spendlow's
York Purchases.)
Featuring aspects from all their recordings and publications in particular
the new edition of Jorvik: York and the Vikings and research from their
Kirklevington Stones project which covers navigation techniques and the
influence of belief systems on cultural life. The talk will be accompanied
by a sight and sound projection.

Other plans:
Following the success of Tall Tales in the Tavern and a Medieval Christmas
with an Angelic Touch from Adrian's persona Hob Swynherd he is filming a
DVD and promoting a tour around schools and festivals. There are also plans
for sessions on Life and Death in Tudor Times modelled on the Barley Hall
Exhibition to tour schools and centres and the provision of on running DVD
displays specifically for establishments such as museums.

Odin's Odyssey - Viking Storytelling Adrian has been commissioned by Preston Park Museum between Yarm and Stockton to create an interactive tale from the creation myth to the conversion to Christianity. Schools from the area will be visiting with him between 19th March and 1st April. He will also be available for visits to your school or centre.

It has been a great year with me doing a short story on Jerry Scott's show
nearly every weekday morning. They are on very early in the morning - around
5.50 am! We do have lots of listeners and get lots of feedback but if you
are not up at that time or you live outside the area you can listen later

You can join us for the regular Friday evening ghost walk from the Golden
Lion in Church Street York at 8.15 .
Or make a party booking, these are really taking off with us doing tours
of haunted pubs or walks on an evening and time to suit the group, we have
even done a few in the daytime. There doesn't have to be millions of you
- give us a shout.
