Born on July 31, 1984, to James and Lily Potter, Harry James Potter stunned the magical world at age one, by proving to be Voldemort, the most feared dark wizard's downfall. Voldemort killed Harry's parents then tried to kill Harry, but his curse failed, and Harry was left alive, with just a lightning-bolt shaped scar on his forehead.

Rescued by Hagrid and left in the care of his mean aunt and uncle, the Dursleys, and their son Dudley, by Dumbledore, Harry lived for ten years there, completely unaware of who he really was.

On Harry's eleventh birthday, after being forbidden to read the letter from Hogwarts, he is rescued by Hagrid, who explains Harry's past, and the most important fact; that he is a wizard. Hagrid takes him to Diagon Alley to buy supplies for when he gets to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. On the Hogwarts Express he becomes instant friends with Ron Weasley, a tall freckly redhead, one of the 9 poor Weasleys.

After an encounter with a troll, Hermione Granger becomes their friend and they spend their first year working out the mystery of the Philosopher's Stone, being kept at Hogwarts. Harry goes to lessons, learns to play Quidditch, and meets Voldemort in the forbidden forest.

In the end, Harry, Ron and Hermione make their way past 6 dangerous enchantments and puzzles, leaving Harry to find the Philosopher's Stone and stop Voldemort from stealing it.

In Harry's second year at Hogwarts, he is particularly concerned about a voice he can hear, that no one else can. He discovers he is a Parseltongue, someone who can communicate with snakes. But dark times come, and students are being Petrified by an unknown creature. A creature who resides in the Chamber of Secrets, which has been opened once again, to rid the school of muggle-borns.

After concocting the Polyjuice Potion to discover if Draco Malfoy is the heir of Slytherin Harry finds a diary belonging to Tom Riddle. He works out how to work it, and Tom shows Harry his memories of fifty years ago, when the Chamber was first opened. Harry is shocked to see a younger Hagrid luring a hideous monster around the castle. Unfortunately Hagrid is taken away to Azkaban, the wizard-prison, by the Minister for Magic.

Finally, Ginny Weasley is taken into the Chamber of Secrets. With Dumbledore having been fired, the school has no option but to close. Harry and Ron find Professor Lockhart and make him go with them to find the Chamber and rescue Ginny.

Harry uses his snake powers to open up a pipe in a bathroom and they travel down a tunnel. Harry ventures into very depths of the castle and finds Ginny, almost dead. But Tom Riddle is there too, and tells Harry he is really Lord Voldemort. Tom calls upon a basilisk, the real terrifying creature petrifying students. Harry kills the basilisk and with the help of Dumbledore's pet Phoenix, they are all lifted to safety.
