It's true, Anthony Robbins made $10,000 a month when he was only eighteen years old. How did he make so much money?

ONE DAY IN 1977 in Orange County Tony was helping a man move into his brand new mansion. It was just one of three that the man owned. Tony, being curious, asked the man how he had managed to make so much money to acquire three homes. The man told Tony how his life was in bad shape up until the previous year when he attended a seminar conducted by Jim Rohn (a popular motivational speaker in the 1970's). Jim Rohn's words encouraged him to make DRAMATIC changes in his life.

Tony was fascinated by the man's story and wanted to learn more about Jim Rohn because to Tony this was fabulous information. Because Tony came from a very poor family he had an eager desire to learn how to make money. To be given the opportunity to change his situation and be like the man with three homes was so compelling for Tony.

In the hope of succeeding himself he asked the man how much it would cost to attend Jim Rohn's seminar . The man's answer shocked Tony: "Holy shit - $35?! For ONE night? Are you kidding me? Now I know why the guy is rich."

But Tony made a decision to attend Jim Rohn's seminar any way. Using $35 out of the $40 he had saved to take a girl out to a dance, he bought a seat for the seminar. He figured that Jim Rohn would probably change his life more than the girl would!

That night, when Tony left the seminar, he was in such a high mental state that he thought of doing something meaningful, something unbelievably big. Tony's goals had no limitations - he simply wanted the highest position that existed.

He thought, "I'll become the President. President of the United States!" and he was serious. The only thing that was important to Tony was changing the world and he meant it. As a stepping stone to fulfilling this goal, he ran for and became A.S.B. President for Glendora high school.

When Tony came home from Jim Rohn's seminar and told his mother about his decision to run for the U.S. Presidency, she scoffed. "If you ever speak like that in public again, you'll never speak in public again.

"This guy [Jim Rohn] got you pumped up out of your mind; when you live on the other side of the tracks life isn't like that."

Her negativity and discouragement made Tony very angry inside. Not long after Tony's relationship with his mother began to break down and on Christmas Eve in 1977, he was kicked out of the house. The truth is he only had $10 in his pocket and no place to live.
