Sentiments towards an unknown "something" and defiance to the reality in which this "something" is on the verge of disappearance became the energy behind the production behind this program. In their current travels, the five Samurais will discover this vital "something" with their hearts.

    Troopers + Mukura

Right after that (technically one year later than Gai Den. I had thought they ran one right after the other . . .) came Kikoutei Densetsu. This OAV supposedly explained where the Kikoutei yoroi came from. (I am not sure on that. My grasp of Japanese is very, very limited, and I have yet to run across a page that actually tells how the two Kikoutei yoroi came to be.) It contained four parts, and this time the Troopers travel to Narobi. (I have to note that they did cause some MAJOR architectural damage in Shinjuku before they left for Africa. Some things never change.) This short series shows a battle between the yoroi's desire to fight and wearers heart, and was the end of the Yoroiden Samurai Trooper Series.

It is now summer of 1990, and the gang are off amusing themselves. Nasutei is off bike riding around the lake, and Touma and Jun are coming back from an overnight trip. Shin is teaching Shu how to surf, and Ryo is wandering Shinjuku. Byakuen is back at Nasutei's, and no one knows where Seiji is.
In Shinjuku things go weird. The temperature shoots up and mirages of trees and animals associated with Africa appere. Naturally, everyone panics and bolts for it, except for Ryo. As it turns out, the Troopers are under attack by a new foe, Mukara. He shows up and attacks Ryo, forcing him to don his subarmor, and then proceeds to beat up on him, causing major damage with his giant boomerang, without subarmor of his own. After a good section of Shinjuku is carved up, the others show up in their subarmor, to the site of a young man their age, dressed in only a loin cloth, winning. Then Mukara summons a ~black~ Kikoutei, and Ryo decides to summon their Kikoute to fight him. Touma calls to the others to share their energy, and all do, except Shin. He stares at the strangely darkend yoroi of his friends in fear and refuses. Mukara summons a portal and sucks Ryo through, as well as Seiji who tried to help him. The portal closes, Ryo and Seiji are gone, and the remaining Troopers, Nasutei and Jun are in a devistated Shinjuku.
As the series progresses, the Troopers discover that the yoroi have been influencing them to fight against their will, and that only the power of their pure hearts can defeat this new threaat. The black Kikoutei wants to fight the white Kikoutei, and Mukura hasn't the heart to fight against its influence. They all end up in a valley in Narobi, where the two Kikoutei were creaated, in a fight of the heart against the yoroi.
