Date Seiji - Korin no Seiji

This meticulous, handsome youth

Seiji, my sister's favorite character. Seiji was introduced to us right after Touma made his appearance along with Shin and Shu. He leaped head first off of the top of a building without mussing his hair. He has the Korin (Halo or Lightning Ring) yoroi. Seiji can control light (it is his power source), possibly lightning, and since his element technically represents life (or nature), he has some healing abilities. His symbol is a lightning bolt which is on his shoulder pads like Touma's. His kanji is Rei (courtesy).
Seiji's weapon is a huge no-dachi (field sword) set with a shurinkan at the hilt. The darn thing has to be near six feet long and God only knows how much it weighs. He swings it one-handedly. Generally when he does his attack he holds his no-dachi over his head with both hands, calls out his attack, and flattens whatever he is aiming at with what looks to be a ball of lightning or a lightning-like whip. Sometimes lightning flashes around him when he does this attack.
His ancestral home is in Sendai, the capital of Miyagi Prefecture in northern Japan. I am not sure if he really lives there or somewhere in Tokyo.
Seiji is what is called the 'mature Gemini'. He is very in control of himself and mature. Geminis are flighty, curious and impetuous. Seiji's grandfather taught him restraint and control when he was very young. He does have his reckless moments. Geminis are very emotional, and Seiji is no exception. Though seemingly mild mannered, he can go into an uncontrollable rage.
Seiji is a well-mannered and polite youth. He dresses very nicely (I doubt that he owns a T-shirt or jeans.) and speaks formal Japanese. Due to his looks (he is the pretty-boy of the series) girls have a tendency to throw themselves at him. Because of severe teasing during his childhood, Seiji gets very overwhelmed when a girl does this and panics.
Seiji's interests include bonsai, playing the bamboo flute, and anything to do with swords. He was taught bonsai and the flute by his grandfather to teach him patience. He is also interested in race cars, which indulges his Gemini nature for excitement. (Hey, speed is great.) He hates lies and untruthfulness (another Gemini trait) and anything to do with evil. Whenever he is in some sort of difficultly, he will often meditate trying to find the answer. Due to this mental training is able to see through mental tricks and deceptions. He can also sense when someone is watching him.
Though Seiji is Touma's best friend, we often see him with Ryo.
Like I said earlier, Seiji is my sister's favorite character. I am not sure why. If I ranked him, he would be my third favorite character. As I sit here, typing this, I cannot really think of anything distinctive to say about him. I can relate with him a bit. We are both Gemini's after all, and I can see myself in him a bit . . . I think I will stop on this train of thought . . . I am beginning to get a bit worried here . . . (and I think my sister just might be upset with me . . . Geminis can get so touchy at times . . .)

Family: Seiji is one of two Troopers who lives in a two parent environment. His father (name unknown at this time) married into the Date family. (That means that he took his wife's family name as his.) He practices kendo and is a police officer
Seiji's mother is probably the eldest Date daughter, and I would guess she was responsible for providing a male heir. She is second in the family dojo, only her father outranks her.
Seiji's grandfather is the current head of the Date family and the dojo. He was in charge of Seiji's upbringing as a child and taught him the way of the Bushi.
Seiji also has two sisters. Yayoi is five years older and Satsuki is two years younger. Yayoi practices kendo and is a medical student. She also has a wicked sense of humor and loves teasing her younger brother, so much that he is actually nervous around girls. Satsuki does not practice kendo, and probably also teases Seiji. She is his younger sister after all. It is part of the job description.
