Space: Above and Beyond is the smash hit tv series
broadcasted on various channels in almost all the European countries,
about a squadron of United States Marines who fight in a war against evil
aliens.
That squadron is the 58th "Wildcards" Squadron, excisting of
Capt. Shane Vansen, Lt. Nathan West, Lt. Vanessa Damphousse, Lt. Paul Wang
and Lt. Cooper Hawkes, under command of Lt. Colonel T.C. McQueen and
Commodore Glen van Ross.

They're fighting the evil aliens described by our troops as "Chigs", due to
their similarity in outward appearance to the skin-burrowing insect known
as a "Chigger".
Several types of alien spacecraft have been observed; the most common is
the two-man fighter, encountered in three-ship attack flights. Armed with
a single plasma cannon, these ships are faster than our SA-43s and have a
greater rate-of-ascent. A red version of these ships is capable of skipping
across high gravity fields.
