WILDCORE ISSUE REVIEW:
WildCORE #1

WARNING!!: Spoilers ahead!! If you haven't bought WildCORE #1 and want to enjoy it don't continue!

Detroit, Michigan, 10.30 pm. Amanda is undercover as WildCORE are out on a mission to capture 'The Stalker' who has been draining life and killing young women this past few weeks. She's been at it for weeks but tonight is the night she hits the button. As she gets off the bus, he melts out from the shadows and strikes her. Her symbiote suit comes into action and she kicks him in the gut. He runs out of the alley. "Slayton, he's running." "Copy that." "Shall I pursue?" "Negative, all the players are in place. It's game time!"

WildCORE in actionShe watches as he runs and suddenly he strikes out at a passing car. Instinctively Taboo tries to stop the car from crashing with her body. The Stalker attacks her and she doesn't know how much more damage her suit can take. Suddenly Ferrian runs out from the opposite alley and deflects Stalkers blast with his weapon. He is closely followed by Vigor and Styrian who move in on The Stalker.

Styrian flings him and he hits hard against the car bumper. Then Backlash appears seemingly out of nowhere and asks the Stalker to give up. The Stalker who obviously thinks he's all-powerful attacks Backlash and 'misses' at which point Backlash coils his whips about the guy and then breaks a few of his bones and in a nutshell beats him up.

"See what happens when you get my new sweater dirty?" states Taboo. This is WildCORE in action!

One week later....

At Department PSI Marc is at the door of his quarter's and notices a Private at his door and asks what he's doing there. Slayton finds out that Amanda and Jodi decided that Amanda should move in with him since PSI requires more living space for the new recruits. Before Marc can get a word in the two of them move in on him saying that the decision is final. Then there is an announcement over the intercomm asking Slayton to report to the relay station.

On the way to the station Marc complains that Jodi and Amanda should discuss things with him first before taking any action into their own hands. He then thinks about the current members of WildCORE namely Ferrian, how he doesn't trust him, Styrian, how there's gotta be more to him and Vigor, how he likes to be called Rick.

Backlash and Giovanni At the relay station Slayton asks about the stalker and it turns out that the stalker is in fact a psionic leech. Giovanni then brings Slaytons attention to the real reason he was summoned. He tells him about General Gant and how the General is in possession of the AE Nautilus and how he plans to use the Nautilus as bait for the D'rahn.

Slayton suggests that they plant a mole inside Gant's network to get the skinny on the new project. Giovanni informs him that he already has an operative on the job and tells him that it's Zealot. Slayton gets mad at this asking why he was not informed that Zealot was recruited into WildCORE without his knowledge and tells Giovanni that he may run PSI but WildCORE was his to lead.

ZealotThe scene then changes to General Gant's current whereabouts which is in this case Norfolk. Gant is accompanied by Brawl, the Chasers and his secretary. Brawl asks him how the conferance went and Gant answers that it went as well as expected, he then asks his 'secretary' for some paperwork that he asked her to do. After the secretary states that she has yet to complete it Gant tells her off and asks her to finish it right away.

The 'secretary' goes back to the office and is in fact Zealot. She changes into her uniform and starts crawling into the ducts of the base trying to find out about Gant's plans. Meanwhile Gant shows Brawl the Behemoth where Zealot arrives at about the same time the base's alarms go off. The D'rahn have infiltrated the base! The Chasers try to stop the D'rahn which ends up with the lot of them dead except for Brawl.

At this time, WildCORE is also called out and Giovanni informs them that the Norfolk Base is under attack. Backlash asks Giovanni's permission to scramble the team and head to Norfolk stating that either way, innocent lives are at stake.

BrawlBack at Norfolk, Brawl is in a rage over the deaths of his team-mates but he is stopped by Typhon. Meanwhile Gant is trying to secure the room he is in by closing the doors from the D'rahn. Zealot orders them to take in the wounded before closing the doors, they do and the doors are closed but Haroth opens them again with his new-found powers. Typhon confronts Gant and he unveils the fact that Gant is in fact a Daemonite. Typhon then orders Pildra to enlighten Gant which she does and the Daemonite could now breathe earth's air. Zealot witnesses all this, but all she says in the end is "All is lost."

The End. Fini.

Comments: Thanks to me friend for lending me her WildCORE #1 issue without whom this review would never have been possible. Yes, I'm ashamed to admit it but I missed WildCORE #1, but I'll surely be looking out for it in the back issues section of my comic shop. Now on to the comic! A first hand look at WildCORE in action! What more can I say. And the D'rahn? They swiped the Chasers like bugs, the earth is really in hot soup now, but there is WildCORE! Also I liked the part where we say Backlash's insight on the new members namely Ferrian, Styrian and Vigor.

D'ya have a thought for Issue #1? Comments? Complaints? Send 'em to me and I'll see whether I can put it up here. Mail me.
