The Tribe Fianna
The Fianna recall their origins from
Ireland. They take their name frmo Fionn mac Cumhail, the first
Fianna. These Irish Garou are known for their Galliards. Their
songs and stories resonate in the legends of all the other
tribes. They say that a Fainna Galliard can take one look at you
and sing you your lineage back to the days of the Celts. The
Fianna keep close ties with their kinfolk. It is not uncommon to
see Fianna kinfolk attending Moots or even joining packs. For the
Fianna, family is everything. Among that family, they count the
Fey. The Fianna and the Fey have a formal agreement, refered to
as the Pact, to live in peace and help each other. The enemies of
the Fey are the enemies of the Fianna. There are three things
that the Fianna love to fill their days with: drinking, singing,
and fighting.
Fianna Camps:
- Grandchildren of Fionn
The Grandchildren of Fionn want to live
the legend of Fionn mac Cumhail. They travel in serach of
a good fight. They don't care for politics, they just
enjoy the fight.
- Eire Fundamentalists
The Eire Fundamentalists want to control
the human population. They believe the world should go
back to the Imperigium, starting with Ireland. They don't
believe to strongly in keeping the Veil, and that causes
problems for the rest of the tribe. However, they do get
support from the Red Talons and the Get of Fenris.
- Children of Dire
The Children of Dire are a camp that
really knows how to fight. They are all lupus and prefer
to hunt in hispo. The Children of Dire are in the
minority of Fianna in that they do not have a sense of
humor.
- Whispering Rovers
The Whispering Rovers trace their
lineage to the Celts of ancient Gaul. They do not claim
any land as their own, and travel in groups called
bundles. They depend on each other for survival and are
forever mobile like Gypsies.
- Brotherhood of Herne
This camp is almost entirely British
Fianna. They hold the ideals of British Imperialism close
to their hearts. Siding with the British Provencial Army
has made them an enemy of many Irish Fianna, and the war
bewteen them and the Ganchildren of Fionn has become a
great threat to Fianna society as a whole.
- The Tuatha de Fionn (The Children
of Finn)
The Tuatha de Fionn
consider themselves distant relatives of the faeries.
They travel every seven years to the Arcadia gateway in
the Umbra to meet with the lords and ladies of the Fey,
and are the best loved of all the Fianna by the faerie
court. Some rumours tell of members of this camp being
able to use faerie magic.
- The Songkeepers
The Songkeepers are mostly made up of
Fianna Galliards, but accept other auspices and tribes.
They are dedicated to music in all it's forms. The
usually travel between caerns adding to the Silver Record
with what they see in the tradition of ancient bards.
They are universally respected and no one refuses them
hospitality, especially in exchange for a good drinking
song.
The Litany:
- Garou Shall Not Mate With Garou
- This has gotten a number of Fianna in
trouble. It is natural for two Fianna to feel
passion, or even love, for on another; however,
it is wrong to bring a Metis into the world. If
you must release your passions, go find a
consenting kinfolk.
- Combat the Wyrm Wherever It Dwells
And Whenever It Breeds
- We were the first tribe
the Wyrm tried to destroy, and we will sing the
loudest at it's funeral. The Defiler tried to
break our kinfolks spirit so that it may enter
their hearts. The Wyrm twisted our brothers, the
White Howlers, into the Black Spiral Dancers.
Have we let these things get to us? Hell yes! Destroy the Wyrm wherever you
find it and show no mercy to the tainted!
- Respect the Territory of Another
- Every Garou should respect
the territory of another. Even further than that,
you should respect your own territory. Land is
sacred, it is of the Mother. She feeds us and
gives us strength while we live, and takes us
back when we die. We are the caretakers of Gaia,
and must care for the land as she cares for us.
Remain ever vigilant against the predators from
the Weaver or Wyrm.
- Accept an Honorable Surrender
- We have a long tradition
of fighting amongst ourselves. It comes from our
Celtic background. This makes this part of the
litany very important to us. There are too few
Garou left to lose even one to our own hands.
Each one we lose is one the Wyrm doesn't have to
fight. We take this a step further than the other
tribes. We treat our defeated foes as honored
guests. There are many tales of lasting
friendships coming from fights. Remember to fight
the good fight. If you are going to lose, lose
with honor, and buy the winner a round at the
bar.
- Submission to Those of Higher
Station
- We have always respected
our elders. If you do not give the otehrs around
you respect, tehn you don't deserve theirs.
However, don't forget to send them a good ribbing
now and again.
- The First Share of the Kill for
the Greatest in Station
- We Fianna have a tradition
of giving the first of the kill to the slayer.
However, if you don't wait for the elders to
offer it to you, expect a good thrashing.
- Ye Shall Not Eat the Flesh of
Humans
- We are part human and
wolf, both are our Kinfolk. We don't eat our own
flesh, so we don't eat theirs either. To do so is
a sign of madness and Wyrm taint.
- Respect for Those Beneath Ye - All
are of Gaia
- We are remembered for what
we do. If all you do is push around those beneath
you and puff yourself up, then what songs will be
sung of you when you're gone? Who will toast you
at your wake?
- The Veil Shall Not be Lifted
- We are very open with our
Kinfolk, but we do see what humans do to caerns
elsewhere. If humans are to find out about Garou,
we will be hunted from the Isle like the wolf.
Who then will protect Gaia? If you break this
part of the Litany, your own packmates will tear
out your throat.
- Do Not Suffer Thy People to Tend
Thy Sickness
- There's a time for
everything. A time will come when it is time to
return to the Well of Life, remember this: it is
better to die fighting for something you believe
in then to rot away slowly to a shameful grave.
Most of our heros head into the Umbra when their
time comes.
- The Leader May Be Challenged at
Any Time During Peace
- Strong leaders make for a
strong tribe. No one may become a leader without
winning a challenge, and anyone may challenge in
times of peace. However, Garou that spend their
time making challenges instead of winning renown
do not stay leaders for long.
- The Leader May Not Be Challenged
During Wartime
- There is no time to settle
arguments among ourselves when we'r e busy with
our enemies. No pack may stand divided and yet
triumph over the Wyrm. If somethign happens to
our Righ, then the Tanaiste takes over, that way
our prowess in not hampered by the loss of our
leader in wartime.
- Ye Shall Take No Action That
Causes a Caern to Be Violated
- Caerns are the most sacred
places upon Gaia. It is the sworn duty of every
Fianna to protect the land and Gaia, so we must
be willing to give our lives in their defense.
Never let a caern be violated through your action
or inaction, you might as well piss in your beer.
If you break this part of the litany, your
brothers and sisters will slay you where you
stand.
Other Tribes:
- Black Furies
- These lasses have the
right attitude about a lot of things, and they
keep the worship of Mother alive. But it does not
take much to understand that men and women have
different types of magic and one without the
other cannot do half as much as they can
together.
- Bone Gnawers
- These guys have a bad rap.
The understand friendship and loyalty as much as
we do, and they can even find Gaia in the heart
of the city. Do you know what the best thing
about the city is? You can always find a Gnawer
when you need one. Make friends with these lads
and you need not fear entering the worst urban
wasteland.
- Children of Gaia
- These guys are too nice.
If it looks like a snake, smells like a snake,
and sounds like a snake, you don't reach down to
pet it. We still look out for these guys, after
all we would rather drink with them then the Get.
Although they don't really appreciate a good
ethnic joke.
- Get of Fenris
- We gave them their name.
They used to be called the Cubs of Fenris, but
all they really deserved was to be called the Get
of Fenris. They actually liked it, and that says
a lot about them. However, they do know how to
drink and a select few even know how to sing, for
that reason we will drink with them. Although, a
world without the Get would only be a nicer
place.
- Glass Walkers
- Another group we would be
better off without. Most Glass Walkers are into
crime, big business, and anything that turns a
profit. Big business never did us or our kin any
good, and it seems that everywhere you turn big
business is pushing Gaia aside for the Weaver.
- Red Talons
- The Talons need to lighten
up. Killing humans will only stain the ground
with more innocent blood. Although, you have to
feel sorry for them. They have lost everything.
If we lost our kin, well you only have to look to
the Eire Fundamentalists to see what would
happen. For the Talons, the Appocalypse has
already come.
- Shadow Lords
- These arses tried to take
over Europe during the Dark Ages. Only one thing
stopped them, they fell on their faces. If'n any
of the other tribes ask us to help put these
irritating whelps in their place, we will be more
than happy to oblige.
- Silent Striders
- A strange lot 'ere. The
Rovers like them, and a few of them are like the
Gypsies. They drop in all mysterious like and
always seem to want to look into old burial
mounds. When they do drop in, make sure to keep
an eye on your stuff. The secret to the Striders
is to keep on their good side - and keep your
good eye on them.
- Silver Fangs
- You have to wonder a bit
about these guys. It seems that Tribes are either
asking them for help or resenting the hell out of
them. They respect our knowledge of the Silver
Record, and they know their history. They also
make a good drink, if you can get them to take
off those ridiculous, pompous stuffed shirts of
thiers.
- Stargazers
- These guys are always
looking for the world outside, while life
surrounds themn waiting for them to experience
it. They are a strange set, but reliabe with
unusual wisdom and experience. Get them to loosen
up and listen to what they have to say.
- Uktena
- Creepy fellas 'ere. They
are always puttering around with magic that any
smart wolf would stay well away from. They seem
jealous of our relationship with the Fey and
would love the secrets of our Gifts. However, we
do share a lot with them. We both have faced
great oppression and have lost a brother tribe to
the Wyrm. They could be great allies against the
Black Spiral Dancers.
- Wendigo
- If they want to fight
about the New World, they should remember it was
conquered long before we came over. We can
understand how they feel, the Brits conquered
Erin and have dominated her for 700 years! If
they want a scrap though, let them bring it on.
Tribal Weakness:
Low Self-Control: (+1 difficulties for
Willpower rolls)
The Fianna have a hard time ruling
their passions, and tend to ride the emmotional wave. To
someone who has not spent a lot of time around them, it may
seem that Fianna may seem to only feel emmotions in the
extremes. Most Fianna find it hard to govern themselves
enough to shake off their emmotions.
Tribal Totem:
Stag
Other WoD Creatures:
- Other Shapeshifters
- The Corax are our allies
and our brethren. As for the rest, we keep our
distance. The Moloké are the spitting image of
the Wyrm. And no one can trust the Bastet, or
anyone so afraid of getting dirty, for that
matter.
- Vampires
- Few things in this world
are as vile and twisted as the Leeches. The best
way to deal with a Leech is to shred it to pieces
and let Gaia sort out the mess.
- Mages
- We have strong ties to teh
Verbena and count them among our strongest
allies. As for the others, be wary. Some called
the Marauders seem inspired by the Fey, but they
do not care for the precious magicks of the land.
There are some who worship the Weaver, and others
that are pawns of the Wyrm. Many mages covet
caerns, so be on the lookout for these. Most of
their ilk are best left alone.
- Wraiths
- As far as ghosts go . . .
avoid them. The bards tell of a nasty habit of
ghosts to appear in front of our leaders in time
of crisis. Let the dead have their peace. I fyou
happen to hear a long, thin wail in the night,
beware, that's the call of the Banshee. Simply
put, someone is going to die.
- Faeries
- The faeries are our
distant cousins. Those with human blood, called
Changelings, are trapped here and are, in some
ways, like us. If you ever meet a faerie remember
that you owe him and he owes you. Stand by and
protect them, but beware the Unseelie court and
their dark minions.
