Finnias "Hunts-the-Spiral" Quinn

Fianna Galliard

Dead

So laddie, you be wanting to know about me life? Well me throat be a little dry, if’n I had something to wet it maybe a song or two could be sung. Aye, Irish whiskey would be doing me fine. There be a familiar look about you lad, mayhaps I be knowing a song our two about yer line, eh? What say you, me drink is on the bar? Thank you lad. Now sit yer arse down and let me be tickling yer ears with me voice, after all be there a sweeter sound than a Fianna Galliard?

Finnias Quinn was born in a small town outside of Dublin. His father, Fionn Quinn, was a kinfolk named after Fionn MacCumhail himself, and he did not let down his namesake. Although he was not of full Garou blood, he fought beside the local Sept’s Arouhn on many occasions, and walked away from some battles that those with the gift of shape shifting did not. His mother, Colleen, was of Garou stalk, and her name was known as a healer even among the Theurge.

Being raised on Erin, he was very close to his Garou heritage from birth. He grew up playing with kinfolk children and running among the woods dancing with the fae. From an early age the sweetness of his voice captured the ears of even the Galliard of his Sept. The fae seemed to dance to his voice and Gaia herself smiled upon his songs.

After he returned from his Rite of Passage, members of the Songkeepers camp approached the young Garou. They adopted him into their camp and began to further his teachings in Garou history and songs. Even among their camp, he excelled and soon his voice was eagerly sought after everywhere. He frequented the local pubs, never paying for his drinks with anything but his voice. Those who wished their honor and glory truly celebrated approached him to sing about their deeds.

One evening, he was entertaining a local pub when a number of the Sept came charging into the bar. The spoke of a surprise attack on the Caern by a pack of Black Spirals. Finnias’ felt his soul drop to his feet when he heard his father’s name. He stopped his singing and demanded to be told the full story. The Spirals charged the Caern and began to overrun the Fianna that were there. Word went out quickly and his father was even quicker to react. He charged through the Caern and took three of the Spirals with him before he collapsed from injuries. His wounds were too deep and Wyrm tainted to be treated even by his mother, who sat there crying with Fionn’s lifeless body in her lap. She was unmoved when Finnias arrived to see the damage for himself.

A group of warriors were getting ready to set out after the Spirals that had escaped. Finnias was too quick to join, his rage growing greater than most of the Ahroun. He led the group on the hunt and upon finding the hive, did not hesitate in charging into the heart of the Wyrm-spawn. He had little to live for if not revenge. His rage burned bright and too many Spirals fell to his claws to be counted. When the battle ended, and the dust settled, the other Fianna looked upon Finneas in shock and honor. Fists-of-Blood, and Ahroun, was the first to approach Finnias. He howled a howl of victory and encouraged all to shift to lupus and race back to the Caern. Upon arriving they announced their victory and Fists-of-Blood went to the sacred fire. He took a handful of ash and approached Finnias’ homid form and thrust the ash into his right eye. At least, that is what Finnias thought he was doing. The pain and burning told him for the first time that his right eye was no
longer there.

With his father dead, his mother and he began to slip to Harrano. His mother took an evening to speak with Finnias and then left to wander the Umbra seeking purpose for her life. Finnias sunk into a routine of singing of others glory but not seeking his own. The Sept continuously sung of his fight with the Spirals, and the vengeance he reaped for his father’s death. It was not enough for him.It was not long before Finnias heard word of his brothers and sisters across the sea. He heard from travelers that the songs of the Garou were not song as loud or as often in the New World. He could not believe his ears. He spoke to the Elders of the Sept and had his journey blessed. He left immediately for America. Arriving on the new soil, he was shocked to see that his fears were right. Songs were neither sung as loud or as often as they were at his home.

He sent word back to his Sept that he was going to stay. He made it his duty right then and there that he was going to remind his cousins of the importance of song. He was going to fill their spirits with the songs of ancient times. He was going to sing of the deeds of friends, sharing in their glory and honor. He would sing for the children, letting them learn of their ancestors. He would sing for the fae in this part of the world, and watch them dance to his voice.

It was not long after his arrival in Ashland that he met brothers of his tribe. He was glad to be around those who knew of Erin, and could speak of the Emerald Isle. It was a new home, and a good place to start his singing. Now if he could only find a good fight every once and a while it will be just like home.

There you be laddie. I would be singing more about me-self, but me throat just keep drying up. What say you? You be getting me another whiskey? Aye, lad I not be turning down yer hospitality. Let me be getting a good look at you. Aye, that what I be thinking. I know of yer lineage laddie. You be getting the drink, then sit yer arse down again and I be singing a song that speak of glory of yer Great-Great-Great-Great-Grandfather. What say you? You never hear of him before? Then you be in for a grand and glorious night . . .

So how did Finnias die? Well there are many tales of the Great Finnias Quinn. His two greatest names, Hunts-the-Spiral, and Sings-With-Strong-Heart. They best describe the Fianna as many will remember him. His name struck fear in the hearts of the Spirals in Ashland. Ik'cha, the Spiral Alpha, himself nearly fell to Finnias's claws. Only trickery, and a few Banes, allowed him to escape. Finnias lost his second eye in that great Battle in the Pits.

However, it was a Spiral that eventually took this warrior from Gaia's embrace. Finnias was chosen to mark the return to Ashland of the one time Master of Rites known as Walks With Shadows. However, when he returned he now was called kouf'Lak Runs-The-Lines, and had danced the Black Spiral.

It was an ambush that caught Finnias off guard. Before the fight started, he was hamstringged. But a Fianna through and through, he didn't let that stop him from taking out the Banes that surprised him. He was out numbered, and kouf'Lak just sat there laughing. Still after the damage he received, he was able to crawl his way back to the Caern. There he told his final tale, the tale of his death and the return of kouf'Lak to the Fianna there. A Fianna Galliard even in his death, his song inspired the Garou to action and they pledged vengence.

His pack, Erin's Sweet Revenge, will always be remembered in Ashland, and it's tales will be sung for all time. Finnias now rests with the Ancestors, and some say his spirit returns to Ashland to sing, and if you listen very carefully you can hear his beautiful voice in the wind.
