Back in Metropolis, the villainous Dr. Bly(Santos Ortega) berates Dixie Lamarr(Joan Alexander) for her murder of a federal agent, until he realizes the murder can be pinned on Dixie's double, Lois Lane.

Afterwards, they learn that Lois Lane has been arrested and charged with the murder of a government agent.

Can Clark, Batman and Perry White locate the real Dixie before the jury pronounces Lois guilty of murder?

Unsuccessful in their attempts to find police records on the real Dixie Lamarr, Batman and Robin seach the juvenile police records and discover the true identity of the young woman called Dixie Lamarr. As they approach Dixie, Bly's minions shoot Batman. As Dr. Bly's thugs close in on the Dynamic Duo, Robin must choose between staying with the wounded Batman or leaving to seek aid.

After murdering the chemist, Der Teufel returns to the secret cave to discover that his Atom Man lives.

Perry White fumes over Clark Kent's neglect of his duties and hires a new reporter to replace Kent: Henry Miller (the Atom Man).

Superman reels and sinks to his knees before the deadly Kryptonite onslaught unleashed by the Atom Man and summons his last reserves of strength to flee to the beach. Following in pursuit, Miller hurls deadly green lightning at the fleeing Man Of Steel, and Superman is pinned by a falling tree, helpless against the Atom Man's nuclear bombardment.

Jimmy Olsen reaches a rabbiter's hut and begs for help while Der Teufel and Henry Miller gloat over the fallen Superman. The Atom Man turns on Der Teufel and kills his father's murderer, then hastily buries Superman in the sand before police arrive.

Accompanied by the local sheriff, Jimmy Olsen arrives at the scene of the battle between Superman and the Atom Man and identifies the corpse of Der Teufel. Buried inches beneath the sand, Superman's body lies unnoticed until discovered by a hunting dog.

Rescued by hunters, Superman is brought by ambulance to Linwood Hospital. His only chance for life appears to be an emergency blood transfusion, but the sharpest medical scalpel can't pierce his invulnerable skin. While the unconscious Man Of Steel hovers between life and death, the Atom Man returns to Metropolis, intending to reduce the great city to dust.

Metropolis receives a reprieve from destruction when the Atom Man discovers that the Kryptonite in his blood needs to be recharged after his battle with Superman. Recalling that the Scarlet Widow had three other fragments of the Kryptonite meteorite, Miller seeks the aid of the sinister Nazi agent known only as Sidney(Ned Weaver). Meanwhile, Superman lies unconscious in Linwood Hospital, not expected to live through the night.

The sinister Sidney makes a deal with the Scarlet Widow(Elspeth Eric) to purchase the last fragment of the Kryptonite meteorite. Meanwhile, Jimmy Olsen is asked to identify the dying man at Linwood Hospital, but Superman's body has mysteriously disappeared.

Jimmy Olsen tells Perry White of the disappearance of the stranger's body from the hospital while Dr. John Millikon tries in vain to reach Clark Kent. Dazed and confused, Kent tells Perry and Jimmy that Henry Miller is in reality Der Teufel's Atom Man, but is not believed.

German chemist Josef Busch(Mandel Kramer) attempts to recharge Atom Man's deadly radioactive powers but is unable to find the missing catalyst for the formula. Believing that Clark Kent has suffered a nervous breakdown, Perry White forces his star reporter to accompany him to Florida for a rest cure.
