An interpretation by Torra/Ceedra Danz.
Okay, bit of background.
First season of The Adventures of Sinbad.
Maeve:
Celtic beautiy and deadly with her magic and sword. She's learning magic
from a master named Dim-Dim. She has a hawk named Dermott with whom she
holds some sort of mental bond (we later suspect that she and Dermott are
brother and sister...) Maeve is GREAT. She fights
right alongside the others, and, athough considered "one of the guys",
she's all woman in may ways.
Maeve has a personal vendetta agenst the evil
sorceress Rumina. She'll do ANYTHING to kill Rumina... We know that she
has "wounds as deep as Sinbad", and they show...but we're never COMPLETELY
certain as to what they are or why she has them. She's from Erie, but that's
'bout all we know 'bout her past.
Sinbad: He's...well...Sinbad! The
sailor! Man of myths that so many children are raised with. ALL heart,
would let himself die before EVER raising a hand to another person if he
could help it. Swordsman and fighter extraordinaire. Beauty of legends.
Fights for the poor to put down the rich who abuse there power, and makes
a nifty profit on the side from his shipping trade. ;-)
The Plot: *Dun dun dah!* Sinbad was raised with his brother Doubar. Their parents were killed and Doubar pretty much raised Sinbad himself, swearing always to be by his brother's side, even at the cost of his own life. When Sinbad's ship was lost at sea, breaking up, Doubar may have been on it, but it was never said. He meets Mustapha in the first episode, and meets up with Firouz, who may have only sailed with him once.
Two years later, Sinbad turns up again with part of his memory missing and a rainbow band around his wrist which he knows nothing about. He's hired by his good frind the Caliph of Baghdad to save his son's bride from Turok (and evil sorceror and Rumina's father) and so Sinbad begins to gather his old crew back together. They also take on the silent (he had his tongue cut out when he would not betray his friends) Moor, Rongar. They decide to meet up with Sinbad and Doubar's old teacher and frind Dim-Dim. That's when he runs into Maeve and Dermott. Duncan attacked Sinbad and he fell while Maeve just stood in front of him. She then goes on to tell him "Just want kind of man he is". Eventually she leads him to her Master Dim-Dim. One of the BEST first meetings I've EVER witnissed! To this DAY!
Maeve and Dim-Dim join up with Sinbad, Mustapha is killed, Dim-Dim is kidnapped and taking "somewhere that Sinbad and his crew can't find him", and they kill Turock...leaving Rumina in love with Sinbad, and wanting him DEAD. (Ah yes...decisions, decisions). Maeve becomes a trusted member of the crew, and they all search for Dim-Dim while going on adventures saving people.
Maeve and Sinbad were great because
she didnt play the helpless "oh save me my handsome hero" female, and he
didn't play the "women are weak, so that's that" kinda guy. They each held
there own...and fought...and fought...and fought.....you thought the Devon/Danziger
fights were great...It's pretty much that. I mean...back and forth and
back and forth! it was PERFECT! But unlike so many other couples...we actually
GOT A KISS! YESSS! "The Village Vanishes" right at the end....
...dont knock it till ya try it, eh? It was REALLY
good...until the second season...but I won't go into that...well...Okay,
a little...Maeve left, they brought another woman (Bryn) who can't remember
(or do, IMHO) anything, Sinbad became a sexist womaniser (with some GREAT
leather pants, though) and the show went from highest rated syndicated
show (in
the world, I do believe) to cancelled in one
year. ...that's all ya need to know 'bout the seond season, and more than
us M/S fans WANT to know...(M/S Maeve/Sinbad not Mulder/Scully)

Notes from Nic : After reading all of that, I feel a sudden desire to watch this show! I've never seen it!
What is it with M/S couples? Or J/D couples? Here's what I mean:
M/S: Mulder/Scully
- The X-Files
Maeve/Sinbad - The Adventures of Sinbad
Marcus/Susan (sniff) - Babylon 5
J/D: John/Devon
- Earth 2
John/Delenn - Babylon 5
Jack/Daniel - Stargate (contentious!)
And to really stretch it, even J!
J/C: Janeway/Chakotay
- Voyager
J/A: Julia/Alonzo
- Earth 2
John/Aeryn - Farscape
J/R : Jack/Rose -
Titanic
Juliet/Romeo - Romeo and Juliet
J/B : Jim/Blair - The Sentinel
J/S : Jack/Sam - Stargate: SG-1
So J is a popular initial. ;) Enough analysis? I think so!
