A device of Sandoval's causes a portal malfunction that kills a Taelon and his protector, and the agent uses Liam's investigation to try to uncover his Resistance sympathies.
Although you know who is behind the assassination from the beginning, that doesn't make this episode any less interesting to watch as we get to see just how well Sandoval covers his tracks. The plot, like Sandoval's plan, is tightly written and executed and it's not totally clear how much of the plan is Sandoval's and how much Zo'or's by the end of the story. Speaking of which, there's a particularly chilling finale to this one too that will lead to some interesting future stories.
With Zo'or's position of power weakening, it's also pointed out that Da'an must choose sides, and it's unclear which way he'll jump. Augur, meanwhile has a close encounter with portal technology when he attempts to find a weakness in it.
Sandoval's newest assassin is a good character, a woman who's given up her identity in order to remain in covert ops. It's good to see Liam being suspicious of her early on and Robert Leeshock has some great heroic moments in this story, as well as making a good partner for Sandoval during the pair's investigation, bringing back memories of how the FBI agent used to work with Boone. With Sandoval getting closer to exposing secrets, it's probably only a matter of time before he begins to cause some real trouble, and I for one can't wait. There's a lot going on here that will no doubt be important in later episodes, but it still makes an intriguing and exciting standalone episode if watched apart from the rest.
