Earth: Final Conflict: Emancipation

A woman posing as a volunteer has stolen a prototype Skrill that does not require a CVI to operate it. However, Liam is running out of time to find her and her comrades before her use of the Skrill causes her death.

Since Boone ceased to be the lead character in the series, the Skrill has been all but ignored, especially since Sandoval retreated more into the background. Now, we finally get to learn more about these beings. My biggest problem with this is that for most of the episode, nothing much happens. Once Liam discovers that the Queen Skrill has been stolen, it takes far too long to track down those responsible, a particularly one-dimensional group of hardcore Resistance fighters, two of whom are allegedly in love, to make them more interesting.

It's very frustrating that Liam keeps talking about all the things he's discovered about the Skrills and their treatment at the hands of the Taelons, but it's only in the last five minutes that we discover anything about this, and not much at that. The way Da'an helps Liam is interesting, showing his sorrow at how his race have treated others, and the last ten minutes when Liam and Renee free the Skrill Queen to start a new life of freedom is quite touching with better effects than earlier in the episode where most of the Skrills look rubbery and unconvincing.

The only thing that puzzles me is what happened to all the people Sandoval arrested for one reason or another. Has he stashed them away somewhere, or has he tortured them to death? We really should be told rather than conveniently forgetting about them.
