Investigating several mysterious deaths, Liam discovers that a Taelon machine used to help relive memories has a duplicate on the black market, an operation that must be shut down.
Earth: Final Conflict seems to have discovered Total Recall 2070 over the summer, as this episode features devices for memory storage and recall that wouldn't be out of place in that show. Despite giving the outward appearance of plenty going on, there's not a huge amount of plot to be seen here. What there is is plenty of backstabbing, underhand dealing, threats and suspicions, many of which are left open-ended.
Da'an's apparent newfound approval of Zo'or's actions are never explained, nor is it clear who is using who as far as the black market machine is concerned. Sandoval seems to have been behind it, but Zo'or also uses the devices for his ends. Renee clearly has plenty more skeletons in her closet, which hopefully will allow a little more development of her character. At the moment, she's an almost total enigma, and not knowing anything about her makes her a difficult character to relate to.
On the other side, Robert Leeshock is doing a fine job as Kincaid, showing strategic plays, some good detective work, and an ability to outsmart Sandoval. In fact, it's starting to look as if he's the only one motivated by a desire to do things because they're right. The rest of the main cast have other motivations entirely.
There are plenty of things to follow up here, and there are some interesting conversations, especially the one between Da'an and Liam, but it would have been nicer to have had some closure to the episode rather than loose ends.
