Star Trek: Voyager: 'Juggernaut'

The Voyager crew are caught in a race to stop a tanker of toxic waste exploding and contaminating millions of lifeforms on nearby planets.

This tale has all the hallmarks of not having been thought through at any point. B'Elanna's near-constant anger never amounts to anything, and the entire episode is drawn out to a ludicrous degree. There are two many questions not dealt with leading to huge holes in story logic, and the entire set-up is none too fascinating either.

Yes, it does add some more background on and makes sympathetic the waste-dumping aliens who've been kicking about since the start of this season, but the entire story drags painfully from one scene of grubby people sweating a lot to another. The revelation of the 'monster' is no shock, and indeed barely explained, and quite why after B'Elanna has been wanting to hit something since the start of the episode, she can't towards the end is anyone's guess. If only there had an actual event to affect B'Elanna, it might have made the show more interesting. The last act does speed up a little and comes close to being exciting, but there's just not enough going on to retain any interest left by this point.

So there you have it. No character motivations to speak of, no b-plot to spice things up a bit, and very little a-plot to go around. There really is nothing to recommend this one. Stay away.
