A woman arrives from the future and saves Cade's life, learning what makes the future hero tick as she helps him attempt to get hold of a Gua transmission.
Considering that the Aftertime has been mentioned several times in the series so far, I was expecting this to explain a bit more about what it actually is. Instead, we get a time travel story including a boy with a ham radio set. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just expected something a bit more exciting.
What there is is a spot of chasing about after the aforementioned boy and some hints of things to come. This second aspect is certainly worth watching, as the news about the first Gua attack is just gagging to make a transfer to the TV screen. In fact, it's something of a pity that we don't see what the future is like firsthand. This leads me to worry that when these attacks come, the budget will be too low for us to see anything of any interest.
Some things still puzzle me though. Lisbeth, the woman from the future, seems not to even know what a hot dog is, or understand several other references. It seems unlikely, even if certain things vanished completely, that people would forget what they were.
The radio ham stuff is very tedious, on the other hand. Cade gets disk, boy gets captured by Gua, Cade swaps disk for boy. No clever plan, no sudden twist. Just dull. If there'd been a story to back up all the news about the future, this would have been a lot better.
