Episode 21- I Want To Protect You

    Hotohori professes his love for Miaka. However, Miaka still loves Tamahome. She then tries to act as if nothing has happened so as not to worry everyone. Hotohori, knowing that Miaka still hasn't forgotten Tamahome, tells her not to hide her true feelings for Tamahome. Unable to bear the pain of losing Tamahome, Miaka tries to commit suicide by drowing herself in the pond. Hotohori, who is then looking for her, finds her slippers floating in the pond. He hastily dived into the pond to rescue her.

Episode 22- We'll be Together Forever

    Still under Nakago's spell, Tamahome receives the permission to head to Konan and kill the priestess of Suzaku. Knowing the purpose  of Tamahome's return to Konan, Hotohori locks Miaka in a room so as to protect her from Tamahome. Hotohori, fueled by the determination to protect Miaka, then faces Tamahome in one- on- one battle. Hotohori delivers a mighty strike of his sword rendering Tamahome almost half- dead. Miaka, seeing Tamahome is badly injured, rushes off to him. She gives him a kiss powerful enough to break Nakago's spell.

Episode 23- Premonition of a Plot

    Finally, the seven star warriors are gathered together. Preparations are being made for the summoning of Suzaku. Nakago reveals to Yui that he has planted a spy in Konan country- Amiboshi, one of the seiryuu shiciseishi.

Episode 24- Determination

    The Suzaku shichiseishi focuses their chi to the summoning of Suzaku. After Miaka has thrown the scroll on fire, Amiboshi( posing as Chiriko) uses his flute to paralyze everybody. A calming sound counters the sound of Amiboshi's flute. The real Chiriko appears before them and it is he who is creating the calming sound using a leaf.

Episode 25- Love and Sorrow

    Miaka failed to summon Suzaku. Taitsukun informs her that the only other way by which she could summon Suzaku is by retrieving an ancient relic called Shinzaho, which can be found at the distant country of Hokkan. She also informed Miaka that in order for her to harness the power of Suzaku, she must remain a virgin.

    The group chases Amiboshi towards a cliff from which he falls. Suboshi, unable to sense his twin brother's chi, assumes that Amiboshi is killed by the Suzaku star warriors. Losing one of the Seiryuu star warriors, Yui is also unable to summon Seiryuu without shinzaho.
