What is libertarianism?
Here's a couple introductions to the philosophy.
Here are some different topics I've written little commentaries on:
Civil Disobedience
You've all heard of Henry David Thoreau(at least I hope you have, if not, here's a chance to learn about a great mind... He wrote Walden, and the classic essay "Civil Disobedience". Here's that essay in all it's glory.
How about you?
Are you a libertarian? Take this quiz to find out. The quiz consists of 10 questions, divided into 2 parts of 5 questions each, one for civil liberties, and one for economic liberties. If you've made it this far, and you found out you're a libertarian, how hard-core a libertarian are you? Would you go so far as to call yourself an anarchist?
(Most libertarians don't consider themselves anarchists, and neither do anarchists really appreciate libertarians being called anarchists. For more info on Libertarianism vs Anarchism, read
this.)
NEW!!! - January 31
A man who likes to call himself an anarcho-capitalist(at the dismay of some anarchists(read the preceding text) is Lazarus Long(he frequents both the alt.politics.libertarian, and alt.anarchy newsgroups...), and he's a pretty darn cool guy. got to write some e-mail to him for a while. Here's a link to his page... "The rational anarchist home-page" It's a pretty popular site. He writes a lot of essays, and he's got a beef with the Libertarian Party of Canada... Check out the article on what i like to call "anarcho-tribalism"(this is my personal philosophy of libertarianism.) I don't know where it's at, but it talks about people living in organized groups of around 350-500. like tribes. It goes along with the libertarian philsophy of free association. I'm going to write an article on this sometime soon.
I've always in believed in looking at two sides of an issue. I've tried to be open minded as possible, and in order to show others that it's important, I'm going to put up a link to the "anti-libertarian FAQ"... It presents some interesting points, some of which do make you think, but he also posts some libertarian rebuttals. A good site for all to look at, whether you are anti-libertarian, or pro-libertarian, check this out.
Out!!! Out!!! You demons of stupidity, it's the Seventh Seal!!!
This page has links to tons of sites!!! Look for mine !!! Seventh Seal is a great resource, and full of informational links to all sorts of political thought, ranging from Libertarian, Anarchists, Gun control, womens rights, IRA, Democrats, and much, much more!!! Be sure to encourage Marcus(the maintainer of the site) to keep up the good work.
Could it be? Indeed, the Social Security tax is voluntary...
How about giving your children the gift of a Social Security tax free life? This site gives little known information on a way to not pay S.S. However, so far, it doesn't look like we(the ones with a SSN) will be able to be rid of it for ourselves, but did you know, you don't have to give your child a SSN number at birth, but instead, you have the option of giving him or her a TAX-FREE IRSN. You can even refuse to give your child a number at all if you're like me(Christian, and oppose the coming NWO). But, if you just don't want your child to be a slave to the socialist system, this site starts you on a path. I'm sure they'll add more as time goes by.
ANARCHY
Here's some general references to anarchy info... As I mentioned above, anarchy isn't libertarianism, and anarchists do not take kindly to being called libertarian. Although some libertarians call themselves anarcho-capitalists thus pissing off some true anarchists...
Save the Freaking Skaters!!!!
This is a little thing I wrote up about a local group of kids that are trying to save their sport from the clutches of local government censorship. Led by a fearless 12 year old named Josiah Lent, they strive forward to battle the evil town officials who care not about the youth(our future), but rather about money, and tourism... Read this article to find out more about how you can help the kids. At the risk of sounding like I'm begging... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... Oh yeah, he's hoping to get a web page up soon, too... When that happens, I'll put a link to it.
How can you laugh at a time like this?!?
It is a good question... This man writes little commentaries on life and politics... He makes some pretty good comments, and he seems pretty darn pissed. It's very interesting, and I suggest you read it. He is a libertarian, yet he seems disgruntled with the Libertarian Party, however, he fully supported Harry Browne during the campaign. I like his style of writing. It's very passionate. So, you tell me, how can you laugh at a time like this? I laugh at the irony and hypocrisy... That's how I can laugh.
Ian Geldards organizational index
Lots o' links... Ian's collected a mass site full of wonderful places to go to. Freedom links galore!!! Go visit his page, and see what you think. Kind of plain looking, but it's just chock full of links...
