Eskania
Eskania (Scania edo Skåne),
Suediako hegoaldeko muturra da. Skane izeneko eskualde bat
dago, baina Eskaniak, berez, Blekinge eta Halland
probintziak hartzen ditu, eta baita Danimarkako Bornholm
uhartea. Hau guztia daniarra zen 1658. urtera arte. Eskualde
osoak 1,5 milioi biztanle ditu. Berezko hizkuntza,
eskaniera, danieratik eta suediaratik nahikoa bereizten da
bertakoen arabera, baina Suedian dialekto soiltzat hartzen
dute gehienek. Hiztunak biztanleen %5 ere ez dira izango
beharbada gaur egunean, gehienen mintzaira suediarak
kutsatua, gainera.

Scania
Scania or Skåne is the most
southern of the provinces in Sweden. Together with Blekinge,
Halland and Danish Bornholm, it has a unique history while
it was an integral part of Denmark until 1658 (Bornholm was
returned to Denmark in 1660). Skåne proper has 1,1 m
inhabitants, 1,5 m including the other provinces. The
language of the province is distinctive from Danish and
Swedish, but in Sweden it is only regarded as a dialect.
Actual speakers nowadays may be not more than 5 %. The
language these persons speak is even usually softly
Swedified and examples of folks today speaking an untouched
old Scanian are probably very scarce.
