The Bear Place

 The bear place

just now
stretched this
heavy drowsy
body

just now
squinted
my eyes
against the light

 just now
remembered
where i am
in space and time

not yet
fully awake
still at that place
the bear place

the damp cave
the white blanket
shutting out the cold
the dream place

 just now
wondering
why i had to leave
the looks within place

this too real body
yawning
gasping in the cold air

paws or fingers
testing the ground
after so long
only tasting
thin air

 almost ready
to throw myself
into the violent action
that is here and now

this dreaming
of the self
soon over

still need to
put the pieces
together

still need
the courage
to live the dream

not yet fully awake
still half there

i was relucutant
to enter
but now glad i did
