K.C.T. Construction
John takes special care in each project and does his best to please customers. He always meets his clients budgets by purchasing quality products at cost-saving prices. Communication is necessary in any project but especially in a building endeavor. The contractor must be willing to listen to the clients plans, needs, and desires. John goes beyond the customary contractor-client relationship by bringing a smile and friendly work ethic along with his hammer and saws. Once clear communication is established, John is able to create not only aesthetically and economically pleasing buildings, but also structurally safe places of business and home.
The foundation of any building begins by literally
digging up the site and then leveling it. Using state-of-the-art
laser equipment, John assures a level work area. The next step
is building trussings for laying the concrete foundation. John double
checks the level of the entire foundation before laying the
concrete. He feels that this is an important extra step that locks
in previous calculations, and is a preventive measure for
earthquakes that may save his clients time and money in the future.
John strongly believes in "Doing it right the first time." Many
clients agree with John's motto, saying that their houses are so well built they
feel safe and stress free. And as usual, John goes the extra mile
by personally guaranteeing that his structures will remain strong
by giving clients a two year warranty. (although not many people have
had to use this! )
If you are interested in attaining a bid from John Oswald or would like more information about his building repetoire click here. Currently, Mr. Oswald is working on a Spanish style office complex, complete with a bell tower, tile front walks, traditional doorway arches, and tile plated roof.
So you can get an idea of John's superior craftmenship, here are some plans and photographs of one his breathtaking houses. John Oswald built this house in 1993, in the mountains just above Oroville. This house was designed for a family of four, and it includes a basement, 2 floors, a porch with a spa, and beautiful lighting (chosen by the family themselves).
A professional plan of the house's exterior
Here is the floorplan!
The rich rocky red dirt of Northern California's mountains are
no match for John Oswald. He lays his foundation firmly, positive
of his accurate measurements. A level and a sharp eye catch any
dispripancies. He then hoists up the wall frames that he previously
constructed using only the sturdiest nails and screws.
When building a two-story house, John uses a crane to lift the
heavy beams for the ceiling and walls.
The crane also comes in handy when he lifts the roof. This roof in particular was a challenge because of its steep incline, but by taking the proper measures the crew manages to lift and install it safely.
Isn't this oak kitchen
gorgeous? John takes pride in hand-crafting cabinets, drawers,
pantry doors, and tile countertops. In remodeling jobs, he
dramatically changes kitchens and bathrooms from the 60's and
70's to fashionable designs of the 90's. In his own house he
changed an orange formica countertop to white tile, tore out the
orange vinel floor replacing it with classic manilla patterned
pieces, and refurbushed the entire cabinet system by raising
beautiful varnished oak cabinets.
Inlining ceiling and
windows with quality oak wood is just one of the few touches
that makes a plain house into an extravagant one.
John does all his own tile work and makes sure it is waterproof, so that his customers don't end up having to redo the shower. Sealing it tight is also good for keeping bacteria out of the grout lines. John takes extra care lining up tile designs and finishing off corners nicely, rounding edges for smooth protection.
