Field Trip Planner
Your class is going on a field trip. You will use the
Internet to help you decide which place you would like to visit. You have
two choices: Riverbanks Zoo or the South Carolina State Museum.
Once your group decides on which place to visit, click
on the link to Riverbanks Zoo or to the State Museum. Your group will be
taking a virtual tour of one of these attractions.
Riverbanks
Zoo - State Museum
After you make your virtual visit, your group must gather
information about the site and make a report about your visit to the rest
of the class.
Your report must include the following information:
-
Place
-
Hours of operation
-
Admission
-
Attractions or exhibits
-
Educational programs offered
-
How to get to Riverbanks or the State Museum from your town
Go to http://www.maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py
and create a driving map from your school to your destination.
If you have some place to go to, but you don't know how to get there, the
Yahoo Maps search engine can help. Yahoo Maps uses an incredible amount
of city map information to find exactly how to get you where you want to
go. You can even find data on to and from routes.
Riverbanks Zoo is located on Greystone Blvd. in Columbia,
South Carolina
The State Museum is located on Gervais Street in Columbia,
South Carolina.
After presenting your information to the class, each group
will:
-
Make a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the two attractions.
-
Create a chart that shows the name of your destination, the
total admission cost for students and adults, the number of miles to your
destination, and student vote. The chart should be created on a spread
sheet and then transferred to poster board.
-
create a set of rules to follow while on a school field trip.
Once all of the presentations have been made, the class will
take a vote to decide which place the class will really visit.
