The Mystic Stables
THE COPSE - ROREPH'S GLADE
Moving through the deep purple foliage, you see less and less charred earth in this direction, and soon fing yourself in lush forest with thick underbrush and large, wet leaves that rain dew down on you as you move through them. A largish glade is ahead of you and as you push through the last borders of leaves and vines, you stop. A voice comes from the Glade, whispery and low. You move forward a bit more and can see the creature, an equine holding perfectly still. For a moment you fear it may have seen you, but you realize when it makes no motions at all that it is not frightened.....
You move out of the wooded path slowly and the creature takes no notice. Instead it holds its pose and you can now make out the words. He speaks them in a measured tone, calm and low. Is he meditating?
Flashing embers, dying gold so pale
The world around them twists and turns its tale
Life and death in firey burnt embrace
And called to a life beyond this place
The torrents of the sky that kill the light
The flashing crackle, writhing still to fight
As wicks of life all melted down to ash
Within the lightning bolted thundros crash
And all that echoes life has since remained
And all that brings the fire is still unchained
Freedom always fire all the same
The dying embers take the giving flame....
You approach the still creature slowly. Its poem flows and burns into your mind, focusing you as you reach out to touch the tip of its poised, curled tail. Its stance mimic's the poem it recites, tail and head up held, hair flashing and waving like a candle's flame in the slight breeze of the copse. You stroke the soft hair of the tail and suddenly...it jumps! The creature skitters away a few steps and regards you suspiciously....
"Nirup! Rhite! Tuf~di-~uaik?" The creature speaks other tongues to you, obviously perturbed that you snuck up on it while it meditated, and you appologise. It seems to relax a little, but not fully, and the large male comes no closer as he speaks, introducing himself. "Well....k'zarti....I am Roreph, Chevei Stallion of the UnderCopse. I'm sorry, but you caught me in Katas and I was...surprised...when I was interupted. There usually aren't that many visitors down here...and I like it that way." He sighs and you ask tenetively if a 'Kata' was the poem he was riciting. He nods shortly and seems to brighten a little. It's a subject he seems enthusiastic about. "Yes. It's not a poem, though, and the kata is not just the words, but the pose as well. I was performing the first Fire Kata, also called the Life Flame Kata. It's one of the beginning katas you learn at the Temple..."
He pauses and you look at his questioningly. Temple? "He smiles. "The New Avalon Jedi Temple, of course. The Katas are the main form of physical meditation for the Jedi. They tone the body and hone memory skills. The First Flame pose, the one I was using before, is an easier one. The Second Flame pose is still a bit beyond my skill, as I've just begun the classes!" He grins and talks enthusiasticallu about his new training...all the new katas and poses he's learning each day, and then bids you a fond farewell, moving back to the center of the field and resuming his pose and low poetic speech.....

You walk out slowly, still feeling the warmth of Roreph's laughter and easy friendship once he got over his suspicions. As you step through the vines, Roreph's sweet voice becomes a low hum and then dies out, leaving you to walk in peaceful silence.....
Left alone, you now have a decision to make as to where you head next! You could go back to the Varian's Glade, or down another path ahead, leading to another section of the UnderCopse. This place is very large indeed!
And there is always a way out of the Copse, a small, tight path leading toward the green verdance of the rest of the Mystic Stables.....
Though you can see almost nothing through the thick foliage, you remember the directions from your journey through the Mystic Meadows. Onward to the NorthWest is the verdant and shining green of the many Sha Fields, while going back out the way you came will take you back toward the Equaritha Fields.....
