Chapter 13: Discovered
"Nick, how long do you think we can keep this up?" Michele asked as she got dressed.

Nick pulled his shirt on over his head and ran his fingers through his hair. "I don't know... I'm hoping forever," he said, his eyes sparkled as he smiled lovingly at her. His hands drew Michele closer and he kissed her. "I don't want to leave, but it's getting late and people will start to wonder where I am..." he told his lover. It was already dusk, and the sun was beginning to set. He had been at Michele's for the
entire afternoon, but neither of them minded, nor noticed.

"Okay," Michele replied. "I'll drive you home."

Nick stopped her. "No, someone may see us... how about just dropping me off at the corner and I'll walk." Michele reluctantly agreed and they headed to the front door, hand in hand. Just as they were going to open the door, the doorbell rang. Their eyes bulged out of their heads as Nick leapt into the laundry room, out of view. Michele regained her composure and opened the door, hoping it was a salesman. "Kaitlyn! Orianne! What are you two doing here?" Michele exclaimed as she subtly shoved Nick's shoes into the closet behind her with her feet.

"We thought we should go for a girls' night out! You know... coffee, or clubbing... or both!" explained Orianne.

"Ah, well..." Michele began to protest.

"No, no... no ifs ands or buts! It's been a while since we all went out!" urged Kaitlyn.

Michele sighed. "Okay, lemme grab my jacket and keys in the laundry room." She rushed over there and gave Nick an apologetic look.

Obviously, Nick had heard everything and he whispered, "It's okay, don't worry."

Michele kissed him quickly and said, "there's a spare key under the mailbox so you can lock up." He thanked her and she grabbed her belongings.

Orianne and Kaitlyn waited patiently when Kaitlyn caught a glimpse of a pair of male shoes in the closet. She pretended to need to check the mirror on the door and slid the closet shut.

Something green caught Orianne's eye. "Hey, Kait? I didn't know Michele had a cell phone..."

"She doesn't, why?"

"Then, whose is that?" Orianne asked, pointing at the phone lying in the middle of the staircase. Before Kaitlyn could think of an excuse, Michele returned into the foyer area. "Hey, Mich? Isn't that Nick's cell phone?" Orianne inquired. She wanted them to end the lies and deception once and for all.

From where Nick was, he had heard Orianne's question. His heart skipped a beat. How could he have been so careless? Michele tried to quickly come up with an excuse since she had been caught off guard. "Oh, he left that in my car when I drove him home," she lied. She felt horrible lying to Orianne but she couldn't let this out yet. She silently begged Kaitlyn to help her out.

"C'mon Orianne, let's go. You ready, Michele?" Kaitlyn asked, changing the subject.

Orianne gave one last suspicious look at the cell phone and agreed. She was so close to catching them. It's not like she really wanted to, but she just wanted it brought out and resolved. She hated Nick for doing this to Jen, but she also wanted Nick to be happy and to get along with Michele. Although she didn't expect them to get along THIS well. Orianne wondered if he was still in the house.

Michele locked the door behind her and got into Kaitlyn's car. "So, where are we off to?"

"Wanna go check out that bar nearby?" suggested Orianne.

"Okay, sounds good. I'll just not drink. It's fine with me," replied Kaitlyn.

"Cool, let's go then!" exclaimed Michele with fake enthusiasm. She was too worried about Nick and still a little shaken up from that close call.
