Chapter 15: Flirtations
After an hour at the bar, and a few drinks later, the girls had let their guard down and inhibitions go, with only Kaitlyn being "non-tipsy", as Michele had put it.

"So what's the deal with you and Carter huh?" Orianne bluntly asked, obviously showing a little sign of the alcohol's side effects.

Michele, who was a bit light-headed as well, looked at her blankly. Kaitlyn's eyes widened and she looked back and forth between the two girls. She held her breath and waited for Michele to answer. "Carter? Hah!" Michele scoffed. "What about us?" Kaitlyn was relieved to see that Michele wasn't that inebriated (aka drunk) to not be able to have a conversation with. Michele smiled at Kaitlyn, knowing very well that her friend had been worried for a second there.

"C'mon... spill it Michele..." urged Orianne, not accepting Michele's response.

"There's nothing to spill!" laughed Michele, as she eyed a cute guy at the bar. "And I'm going to go say hi to that hot guy..." With an instant, Michele had left the table she was at and had avoided an unnecessary confrontation about her and Nick. She glanced back at her two friends and realized they were watching her, waiting for her to talk to him. Michele sighed at the mess she got herself into as she straightened out her hair and threw a flirty glance to the blue-eyed brunette.

He noticed her and smiled, subtly eyeing her up and down. Michele smiled back and went up beside him to order a drink. She couldn't believe she was doing all this to get Orianne's suspicions away from her and Nick. When the bartender got Michele's drink, the guy beside her told the girl behind the counter that he's got it covered.

Michele leaned closer to him so he could hear her over the loud music, "Thanks! But usually I know the guy's name before he buys me a drink!"

The guy smiled, and his smile radiated his sexiness. "I'm James... and you are..."

"Michele," she supplied.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Michele," he replied.

"The pleasure's all mine," she replied, glancing over his shoulder at Orianne and Kaitlyn. Orianne had a look of confusion on her face. ‘Perfect,' Michele thought. ‘That should throw her off the track.' "James, do you want to dance?"

"Sure!" he replied. Michele motioned for him to follow her and they went back to her table. She put down her drink, introduced her friends and they headed onto the dance floor.

Kaitlyn watched as Michele and this new guy flirted. She had caught onto Michele's plan, and she had to admit, Michele was a pretty convincing actress. She's got both Orianne and James fooled. She turned to Orianne, who had apparently been speaking to her. "I guess I was wrong about her and Nick then..."

Kaitlyn was surprised at how coherent Orianne sounded. Maybe her drinks were wearing off. She glanced at her watch and realized what time it was. She had to work the next day and she knew that Orianne and Michele did as well.

"I think it's time to go," Kaitlyn informed Orianne. "I'm going to go get Michele." She called Michele back and they headed home, but not before Michele exchanged phone numbers with James. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and said good night to her and her friends.

"Isn't he gorgeous?" Michele gushed, once they were headed ot the car.

"He IS very cute," admitted Kaitlyn, as she opened the car doors. They got in and were silent the rest of the way home. All three of the girls were tired and just wanted to get to bed.

Michele awoke the next morning with a slight headache and her mouth was dry. She hadn't been drunk but she knew she had a bit to drink. At the thought of the previous night, the memories of James came flooding back. She had been dancing really close with him. Too close to have it be a ploy. She got dressed and popped two painkillers
in her mouth. Glancing at the clock, she realized if she didn't hurry, she would be late for her waitressing job.

Orianne sat at her desk at work, nursing a huge hangover. She was regretting drinking so much when her phone rang. "Hey baby," came the familiar voice of her boyfriend. "How was your night?"

"I've got a hangover," she said, as if that would explain it all. She suddenly remembered what she had found out. "Oh! And I think I was wrong about Michele and Nick."

Brian paused. "... oh?"

"Yeah, ‘cause when I asked her last night about it, and she denied it and was totally all over this guy she met... James or something... he was SO into her!"

"Are you sure?" Brian asked warily.

"Yeah, why?"

"Because Nick confessed to it last night."

Orianne sat there, stunned. "He what?"

"You heard me. He admitted to having strong feelings for Michele."
