Chapter 1
"AHHH!!!!! Let go of me!" I screamed as the masked robber grabbed me a shoved me into a closet. "Let me out!" I screamed as he shut the door. I heard him leave the side door. "God please help me!" I said starting to cry. I had been home alone when he came in, I was watching TV and didn’t hear him come in, and when I realized it was to late. . .

I started banging on the door. "HELP" I screamed, hoping someone would hear me. I kept banging until I realized that it was getting awfully hot...
Oh no! I thought, He set the house on fire!? I tried frantically to untie my hands and feet. "I can’t die! Not here, not now! I'm having a great life, I have a great boyfriend and I just can’t die!" I searched the pitch-black closet for something to free me from the ropes. I struggled to free myself while trying hard to not breathe in the smoke. I could tell the fire was spreading fast and if I didn’t hurry up, I wasn't going to make it out alive. I didn’t have much time, and I had to act fast. Pretty soon, I found myself not being able to breathe, and I knew that if I didn’t hurry I was not going to make it. I'd managed to get one of the ropes partly off before I blacked out...

I woke up dazed and not sure where I was. I slowly opened my eyes and saw that I was outside in front of my slightly burned house. I looked up and saw that I was in the arms of my boyfriend. He looked at me. “Your alive! Thank God your alive!” he said hugging me so tight.

“What happened?” I asked barely able to speak.

“You fainted.”

“Oh, what about the house?”

“There’s not much damage, the bottom floor was the worst, and the ceiling has smoke damage, but everything else is OK.”

“That’s good,” I said, glad to be alive. “How did I get out?”

“The neighbor saw the man break in and called the police, then when the fire started she called the fire department. You are very lucky; she was just about to leave the house when she saw him.”

“Wow, I’m so glad to be alive; I would have missed you so much Nick. I knew I had to live.” He took me in his arms and helped me up. We walked to his car and drove away.
