Sarg 46 - Raam Rests at Tamasaa River Raam said to Lakshman - "This is the first night of our exile, there is no need to be anxious. This is forest. Because animals and birds will return to their homes, that is why the whole forest will to be crying from all sides. Today the whole Ayodhyaa would be sad, because the public doesn't love all four of us less than the king. I am more worried about about our parents lest they lose their eyes crying in our separation. Only Bharat can console them. Because he is very religious and bears good character, that is why I am not much worried about them. You have done a favor to me by coming with me, otherwise I would have to look for someone to protect Seetaa. Lakshman, Although there are many things to eat in the forest, but for today, I have decided to stay on water only, because I felt it the best." Then He said to Sumantra - "You go and take care of horses, make arrangements of their food." Sumantra and Lakshman did their Sandhyaa together. Seeing night coming nearer Sumantra and Lakshman made the bed for Raam. After Raam and Seetaa had slept, Lakshman and Sumantra passed their night praising Raam. Raam woke up in the morning and seeing the public still sleeping said to Lakshman - "It seems the way these people are sleeping here they can give up their life but in no case change their resolution. They are unmindful even about their homes. During the time they are sleeping we should take a route which has no fear from any side. Thus they will be saved from sleeping on roots day in day out again. The citizens should be free from every kind of troubles by their Raajaa. Lakshman said - "You are right, then climb up the chariot." In the meantime Sumantra brought the chariot and All sat in the chariot and crossed Tamasaa River. Raam said to Sumantra - "You ascend the chariot drive it towards north, then come back, so that they cannot locate us." Sumantra did the same then all ascended the chariot again and started theirs journey. Sarg 47 - Raam Left Public Sleeping When public woke up in the morning, they didn't see Raam there. They got very disappointed. They tried to look for Him around, but couldn't find Him. They abused their sleep which separated them from Raam. How could Raam leave such devoted citizens there ? "We should either die or go to Himaalaya, or there are lots of wooden logs here we will burn ourselves in a pyre, because our life is useless without Raam. How can we go back to Ayodhyaa? and what we will say to them when people will ask us about Raam. We came with Him, but how to go back without Him." Thinking thus they got very sad. They all blamed their fate for this. They thought that Ayodhyaa would look like a robbed city without Raam. They couldn't locate even the chariot's tracks. So they all returned to Ayodhyaa by the same path they came from. Sarg 48 - Public is Discontented When they couldn't find Raam anywhere, they came back to Ayodhyaa, but they looked like dead people. Their eyes were filled tears. They met their wives and children in the same condition. They found them sad too. Mothers were not happy on the birth of their first sons. Markets of Ayodhyaa were still closed, nobody opened his shop.. Women, whose husbands went with Raam were teasing to their returning husband, and their husbands were feeling embarrassed and praising Lakshman's fate. They were praising rivers, ponds in which Raam would take bath. They were praising trees, Parvat where He would take rest. They will get the opportunity to show their gratitude by presenting themselves at their best to them. Wherever Raam will go, there will be no fear, so we should go to Raam and live with Him, because we will not be able to tolerate His separation for long. Women said to their husbands - "We will serve Seetaa while you serve Raam. This kingdom belongs to Kaikeyee, that is why it is impossible to be happy in this kingdom. Who else Kaikeyee can spare when she has already left her husband and son because of power and wealth. She cannot give us happiness to any body who has banished the son of king without any pity, that is why we vow on our dear sons that we will not live here. There will be many agitations will be here and there and nobody will hear anybody. Dashrath will also not be able to live long, therefore this kingdom will destroy soon." Thus all were saying something or other that night started falling.
