Sarg 101 - Bharat Explains Himself

Raam asked Bharat - "Hey Bharat, I am very anxious to know that why have you come in the forest wearing Jataa and animal skin leaving kingdom?" Bharat replied - "Hey Raam, On asking by my mother, Raajaa did this terrible act, because of which Raajaa died of the grief of son. Kaikeyee has committed a very grave crime, because of this she has lost her respect. She could not fulfill her wish but she has become widow. At this time she is living in hell with defame. Hey Bhagvaan, I am your servant, therefore be pleased with your servant and get your Raajya Tilak done. Public and all mothers have come here. Please accept Raajya Abhishek according to the tradition of our family and thus make Ayodhyaa happy.

I put my head on your feet in front of these Braahman. I am your younger brother and disciple, therefore be pleased with me and be kind to me. Accept the Braahman's request who are sitting in front of you. It has been since father's times and you have always accepted their request, therefore please accept their request today also."

Bharat sadly kept his head on the feet of Raam. Seeing Bharat's condition, Raam hugged him and said - "How can, who is born in high family, or is a Tapaswee, or is a pious man like you, commit sin? I don't see any fault in you. You should not abuse Kaikeyee also in a childish way, because elders always have their rights on younger and they have full rights to order anything to a younger.

Hey Bharat, Raajaa could also order us according to his wishes but otherwise also we should regard our Maa as we regard our father. This is according to our Shaastra. Father and mother ordered me to live in forest, then how can I act against their orders? You have been appointed as the king of Ayodhyaa and I have been ordered to live in forest. Raajaa Dashrath died with this order in the presence of Purohit and ministers, therefore Hey Bharat, it is our duty to obey him and you should rule the kingdom got from father. I will also obey their orders [by living in forest]. I do not want to take even Trilok's kingdom without the wishes of father.

Sarg 102 - Bharat Requests Raam to Come Back to Ayodhyaa

Bharat said - "If we are breaking the traditions of our family then we do not need Dharm and sermons, because this is our tradition that on the death of the father, his eldest son should take the kingdom and other younger brothers should take care of the kingdom serving their eldest brother. Therefore Hey Raam, to maintain our family traditions, you come to Ayodhyaa with us and have your Raaj Tilak done.

All consider Raajaa as human being, but I see Devtaa in him, because his all actions are strange and are according to Dharm. When you came to forest, I was at Kaikeyee's place with Shatrughn. I was called to Ayodhyaa at the time of my father's death. We have already performed the last rites of father, you may also do that. Water offered (Jalaanjali) by dear people has been considered eternal in Pitra Lok. You were very dear to Raajaa. He died in the expectation of your return."
