Lakshman was consoling Raam thus that Vibheeshan came there with four brave soldiers with their weapons. Those soldiers were dark complexioned. Vibheeshan found Lakshman and Vaanar weeping and Raam lying unconscious in Lakshman's lap. Vibheeshan got very sad, he asked - "What is this?" Crying Lakshman said slowly in a low voice - "Meghnaad has killed Seetaa. Hanumaan brought the news. Since then Raam is unconscious."

Hearing this Vibheeshan intercepted and said to Raam - "Whatever Hanumaan has said to you, in my opinion it is impossible. I know Raavan's mind about Seetaa. He cannot kill Seetaa at all. I requested him several times to return Her but he didn't listen to me. Nobody can even see Seetaa. Neither with Saam, nor with Daam (money) and nor with Bhed (divide and rule), nor in war, nor with any other method. He has confused these Vaanar with his Maayaa. He must have created Her with his Maayaa [and then killed Her].

He will perform a Havan at Nikumbhalaa. After completing this Havan he will be infallible, even by Indra. that is why he mesmerized monkeys to stop them to fight with him. That is why, please permit us to go there before he finishes that Havan, and don't be sad at all because all army is sad because of you. You be happy and stay here. Send Lakshman with us. If he had completed that Havan then he will be able to fight with Devtaa and Daitya being invisible. So you must use such a weapon which doesn't fail."

Sarg 84 - Lakshman Goes to Disturb Meghnaad's Havan

Raam was so much in grief that He couldn't know what Vibheeshan said to Him. But He said to Vibheeshan patiently - "Hey Raakshas Raaj Vibheeshan, I wish to hear again what you said to me just now. What do you want now?" Vibheeshan said - "I did the same as you ordered me. I have divided our army along with their army-chiefs. Besides, I want to say something else also. We are all sad because you are sad. You should stop being sad because this makes enemy happy. If you want to get Seetaa and kill Raakshas then you should do something. Now I tell you something in favor of yours. If Lakshman goes with His army then it is better. Meghnaad is doing a Havan at Nikumbhalaa. If Lakshman can kill Meghnaad there with His sharp arrows, then it is the best.

Meghnaad has got Brahmshiraa named weapon and horses who run according to his wish from Brahmaa Jee by pleasing Him through his Tapasyaa. Now he has gone to Nikumbhalaa with his army. If he had finished his Havan then he will be able to kill everybody. This is sure. "Either before you arrive at Nikumbhalaa, or before your Yagya finishes, whoever will fight with you, he will kill you." This was Brahmaa Jee's Var to him. His death has been described thus. Therefore you permit Lakshman to kill Meghnaad and as he dies, consider Raavan also dead along with his friends."

Raam said - "Hey Vibheeshan, I know that terrible Meghnaad's Maayaa. He knows Brahmaastra, he can make all Devtaa, along with Varun, unconscious in war. When he wanders in sky sitting in his chariot, it is as difficult to know his whereabouts, as you cannot locate Soorya hidden behind the clouds." Then He said to Lakshman - "You take Hanumaan and Riksh Raaj Jaambvaan like army-chiefs and kill Meghnaad. Vibheeshan along with his ministers will also go with you. He knows all about his Maayaa."

Lakshman picked His bow, touched Raam's feet and said - "Today my arrows will kill Meghnaad and drop him dead as swans take bath in Pushkarnee." Saying thus Lakshman started for Nikumbhalaa with the blessings of Raam. Vibheeshan and Hanumaan along with army were with Him. On the way Lakshman saw Raavan's army. He stood there waiting to kill Meghnaad according to the Var of Brahmaa Jee.
