The Ultimate Bhangra Competition . This year event attracts colleges and universities from across the USA and Canada to compete for a prize of $5,000 and the title of Midwest Bhangra Blowout Champions. .

What is Bhangra?

Bhangra isn't just music but a dance. It's actually the celebration of the harvest where people beat the dhol (drum), sing Boliyaan (lyrics) and dance! Bhangra is a traditional Punjabi dance that orginated in the fields of northern India. It is a dance, which does not consist of separate steps, such as Ballet does, but instead consists of several hand and feet movements put together according to the beat of the music. This dance can also be danced along with the sound of the dhol (drum).
