We spent Christmas this year in Davis Mountain Indian Lodge State Park, Jeff Davis County, in far southwest Texas. The Park is about 70 miles due south of the west end of Interstate 20, where it meets up with Interstate 10 and ends, a couple hundred miles east of El Paso. McDonald Observatory, operated by the University of Texas, is nearby, The eleveation of the park is over 5000 feet. Big Bend National Park lies along the Rio Grande River a hundred plus miles further south, via Alpine, Texas.
