BRIEF HISTORY OF THE  CHAPTER

The Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is the fourth oldest

chapter of our fraternity.  Originally founded in 1908 by Jewel Eugene K. Jones

at the University of Toronto, the chapter has been existence for ninety-two

years.  Although chartered with eight members, only two were recorded:

Prince Robert Mallinger and Keith S.B. Simon.

In 1939, the chapter moved to Tillotson College located in Austin, Texas.  At

the time of this move, the Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha was the first

greek letter organization on campus. In 1952,  Tillotson College merged with

Samuel Huston to form Huston-Tillotson College.  At this time, the Delta

Chapter combined with the Beta Zeta Chapter but retained the Delta Chapter

name. Rich and rooted in cultural heritage, the Delta Chapter is known for its

zeal in the betterment of the society in which it plays an integral role.
