A.H.P.A. HALL OF FAME MEMBERS

This a prestigious honor given to few.  The basis of the honor is hard work and dedication to the sport.  He established the Bloomfield Horseshoe League and has been secretary-treasurer of that organization since it began.  He is always willing to work to make the organization better for the members.  Fatty Bob, as he is known begin pitching in 1969.  Bob was also a member of the National Pitchers Association and has pitched in world tournaments, in the past.  The Bob pitched several years with the traveling league.  He has also run the Bloomfield Apple Festival Tournament for many years.  He helped build the courts in Bloomfield and organize a A.H.P.A. league there in 1982.  He was A.H.P.A. league President for a few years.  He later served as A.H.P.A. league Secretary for several years.  He was elected Mr. Horseshoe in 1983.  Served on the A.H.P.A. Board of Directors from 1983 to 1986.  Bob also has served on the A.H.P.A. Rules Committee.  He is also a member of the 100 Point Club.

Jim Fergson is a 5 time State Champion.  1975, 1977, 1978, 1980 and 1982.


 

Sharon Pacala

Worthington, Ind.

Sharon is a 4 time State Champion.  1993, 1994,1995 and 1997. She was also elected as Mrs Horseshoe in 19??.

The following is a newspaper article that was published Sept. 7 1994.

When it comes to pitching horseshoes, Sharon Pacala knows how it's done.

The Owen County resident this year won her second consecutive state championship in the ladies' division of the American Horseshoe Pitchers Association event held at the Indiana State Fair.

Pacala has been a particpant in the state competion for 22 years.  In this year's five-game contest, she averaged 103 points per game, out of a possiable 150, with a high round of 114.

She says her biggest fan is her father, Gosport Nursing Home resident Pete Shelley, who also has won at the state level.  And the family tradition continues - Pacala is teaching the art of horseshoe pitching to her 2 year old grandson.
